It's really hard to narrow one thing down...

The old 46-60ish Dodge power wagon WM300... had to specify because the other square thing is not what I care for while sharing the same-ish name.
There's something about the aesthetic and brutish nature of it.

I just think it looks cool. I want to get a dog and drive with the window down so my dog can look out the window. This is the life I see for myself. Everyone venmo me @------ we can get this started.

I think the real question is, will it still be NA with GM saving the turbos for the ZR1/Zora. No room for a blower on c8's currently, so people have been throwing twin turbos on them.

You are aware lead/acid batteries are different from lithium ion, right? Either way, having an electric trail rig is a bad idea that nobody will buy with current tech.

I think there'd be 2 other issues with making it electric. Weight for one, it'd be heavy due to the battery packs making more prone to sinking, though traction might be improved as well.

The other is you better not get the bottom of it punctured/damaged crossing a road/crest, because I can't imagine how fun it'd be to be sitting in a lithium ion battery fire the size of a bonfire. If you set the packs up high you've screwed the center of gravity up and it's also bad for offroad.

If you can get around those and waterproofing I guess it could work, but sounds like a potential headache. It's ok, I'll come tug you back to an outlet with my power wagon. :P I kid, just felt I had to slip that in.

How I see it, no matter the sports car, the only reason to get an automatic is if you are going to seriously actually competitively drive it (not track day stuff, i'm talking entering in a proper race series). Sure it offers faster shifts, but it's more prone to failure and less driver involving.

At the level of those hypercars like the 918, the P1 and LaFerrari, people would be wrapped around trees trying to handle those cars with that kind of power and a manual gearbox. The sheer power, speed and reaction time needed to control those things are beyond what the average non-professional driver can do without electronic assists. The buyers in that kind of market aren't interested in widow makers. That's probably why Ford decided to put paddle shifters in the new GT500.

The only reason why the manual is dying is because of sales numbers, and not driver ability.

The thing is there are many options that are better than entry level ferraris or lambos. The NSX is in an extremely competitive segment right now.

The C8's release this year was the final nail in the coffin.

Either way performance enthusiasts seem to be buying em. I doubt those alfa romeros are selling huge numbers but they obviously have a niche market amongst the thriftier rich dudes who actually want a high performance car for performance sake.

Sure its anecdotal but people travel from california and beyond to hit up area 27. There has to be a reason i see em that much.

The corvette C8 has people salivating. The Viper made a name for itself. The nissan skyline too.

The issue is that the original NSX came out of nowhere, it was a ferrari-level world class sports car with the everyday convenience, reliability and interior comforts of a honda prelude.

Nowadays sports cars (ferraris, lambos, even corvettes) are no longer the unreliable, hard and spartan weekend cars they used to be. Other than space limitations and maybe ground clearance you could probably drive a ferrari or lambo or corvette everyday, so the new NSX doesn't have that on them anymore. Plus it is not as exotic looking or special as its predecessor was.

That's the thing with the old NSX. I would feel confident buying a used one knowing that the reliability is there, it wouldn't be a garage queen.The 90s era is when Japanese automakers really had a sort of gold rush with their sports cars, you had some timeless automobiles from that era, real driver's cars. They could drop an NA1 NSX, the FD RX-7, the Mk.IV Supra and the R34 GTR today and they'd look better than anything in their competitive market right now.
