Then they can argue that BLM is a political stance that isn't inclusive. The city knows they'd get sued and possiby lose so they removed the mural.

"BLM" is nothing more than a unified voice speaking out against institutionalized racism and wishing for that to end. saying we want to make a collective effort to end racism should not be restricted to one party, though, unless the GOP is going to flat out admit they're against it.

All I know is BLM doesn't satisfy the conditions of the Hatch act so as a federal employee I can talk and participate in it all I want. Seems like that should have implications for public murals.

I think people are confusing the general saying "Black lives matter" (which should be obvious to anyone with an ounce of decency) with the actual organization called Black Lives Matter.

Painting a street saying "black lives matter" isn't gonna make some racist pos say "hey, this street says it, I guess black lives DO mater after all".

it reaffirms that the idea is one that should be supported by all. i totally believe in the idea "BLM" but i'm hardly a marxist. associating racial equality with socialism is just a pathetic attempt by the right to rally against the idea of BLM without being directly racist (since, in their minds, they're fighting cOmMuNiSm)

The issue is making the street a public forum. When the city allowed that for BLM, they opened the door for other slogans and this woman is exercising that within her rights.

I already pointed it out in an earlier topic of a black woman "vandalizing" a BLM "mural" in NYC, that her action was protected by the 1st amendment.
