Current Events > Why is there this narrative that America is the only country hasn't reopened

I live in Germany and downtown is literally packed with people. People usually wear masks indoors, except employees sometimes, but there is zero social distancing going on. The grocery store I go to didn't even enforce masks until may and I was like the only person with one. Clubs and bars are open as well with little restriction. Also, I know multiple people that have gone on vacations to places like Mallorca to go party as well.

It seems like there is just this narrative people want to get out that Americans are the ones killing everyone, and to forget China unleashed this on the entire world.

China is getting away with this with just a slap on the wrist.

Comparatively, for sure. It is sick that we are so divided we can't even focus on our biggest threat in the world unleashing a global pandemic.

They did at least accidentally introduce biological warfare, I don't feel like that is a stretch...And again, it isn't like the rest of the world is being so responsible or that most Americans haven't been reasonable with mask wear.

It depends on the state. Same kind of goes for Germany too. There are places that are ghost towns almost, and then where I live people took it seriously for like a month.

But a lot of the world is being more responsible and a lot of Americans are not being reasonable with mask wear or social distancing. People have to be told what to do and that's "communist fascism"

Well it was popular before cause of basic jealousy and the capitalistic background. The world police thing I understand to a degree, but I don't think people understand that if the US isn't policing and over extending Russia and China take control of these places. I know people think America is some horrible place (really just cause the reasons I mentioned up top), but I guarantee that Russia and China don't have the same regards for civil rights and honesty between partners the US does.

I dont get why it exploded here so badly but places like Sweden that were originally very laid back in tgeir enforcement didnt have anything like this. Compared to neighboring European countries they had more, but its a drop in the bucket compared to what we are now experiencing. I dont see why that is. And the answer isnt, everyone else is wearing masks.

Its all political man.

If the political landscape flip flops in November watch the narrative and the tone of the media change with it.

Key word. People are using bogus stats that at the very least don't account for population and comparing them to smaller countries that with smaller populations and less crowded cities. Like I said there are plenty of places in Europe lapping it up right now, but people ignore that.

Sweden's government took a lassiez Faire approach, but the people there still refrained from going out. It was far from a free for all.

People act like just cause you see some jackasses on reddit from America being dumb about wearing a mask in doors that it is only the US, but it isn't that is just what gets highlighted. Literally when people were complaining about beaches months ago being open in the US I knew people on a literal beach in Spain partying it up. It is just complete hypocrisy.

Yeah, this is "mask Nazi's" go to far thinking you need to be wearing a mask when you are jogging or just outside. This isn't mustard gas, but you can still be irresponsible if you are too close to too many people.

That doesnt answer my question. Some people isolated, some didnt. Well thats the same here in the US. If anything we partially locked down and they didn't, but their outbreak is nothing like ours. It just didnt spread there like it did here. Or Italy as another example. They were totally bombarded to the point it shouldnt have stopped. And its stupid to think everyone in Italy is wearing a mask. So whats with the discrepancy, why is it so much more contagious here?

I mean the US actually has tons of protocol before they do strikes/bring in operators, and really it isn't doing much of that currently. More so the US supports local forces in agreements with countries or resistance groups like Somalia or the Kurds.

Anyways the horrendous Civil Rights issues of China has been brought up for a long time, but only now do people on the far left want to bury that they have become the most oppressive regime since WWII Japan or Nazi Germany just to bash the US. Australia re-opened with plastic barriers, public hand sanitizer and a check-in policy for restaurants and bars.

There was a spike of cases in Victoria, and that state went back into lockdown. Some stragglers made it into NSW before the borders closed, and now NSW is having a smaller scale breakout with talks of shutting back down.

Other countries are re-opening, and they're adjusting lockdown rules to meet flare-ups as they happen. We were, more or less, opened right back up. Some places have had to bring back lockdown, and we're handling this at a cautious pace.

We didn't close everything down, decide that virus casualties were necessary, and lift all of our restrictions at once for the sake of calling it a victory. Even at our greatest point of normalcy, we knew we weren't out of the woods, and we kept taking everything seriously.

China is going to get a slap on the wrist, if you want to even call it that, because many countries are dependent upon recent Chinese investment and infrastructure revitalization, i.e. Italy. Italy should be ripshit angry at China more than anyone, but because of private Chinese enterprise into Italy's struggling economy, well...you get what you have now.

the issue is not reopening. The issue is re-opening before the curve of contagion trends down, and without the adequate measures.
