If he had done it earlier and in a way that was actually effective, combined with a well-thought out plan based on science, then all the people who criticized him would be eating crow and he would be guaranteed a win in November.

Instead he waited too long, did his travel ban in a stupidly racist way, did nothing besides that for those critical first months, and undermined all the people trying to give good science-based advice. All while making large portions of his supporters think the virus is a "hoax" that is much less dangerous than doctors say (the craziest ones think it's completely made up) and politicizing it to the point where his base sees going against scientific advice as a show of solidarity and support.

Nobody cares about his stupid travel ban anymore because it didn't do anything. What we care about is all the travel bans that are on the USA because our leaders fucked this up so bad.

South Korea doing better control because of their experiences with epidemics. 2-3 times of the country being ravaged by infections sets up information on whats effective to prevent and counter such things.

I often don't see people wearing masks where I am in the UK.

But likely because (along with people not caring, thinking it's a hoax etc) it's not required yet, and no shops near me actually sell them. For lots to get any they'd need go on public transport, but get this...

You need a mask to get on the buses here. So lots are simply stuck with no masks, if they can't order them online.

Questions for you: If initial reports were made and publicized by Chinese public health officials and echoed by the WHO regarding no human-to-human transmission of COVID-19, wouldn't a travel ban that early in the first stages of the Wuhan outbreak appear xenophobic? I find it funny that you consider discussing Trump's well-documented history of racism and idiocy "crying about anything Trump does."

I think Trump has done a few good things during his presidency, but the bad far outweighs those things, so it's obviously going to dominate conversation of the subject.

I also never claimed protests weren't responsible for contributing to the spread of the virus. However, there is a difference between outdoor protests where most people are wearing masks and an indoor rally with thousands of people refusing to wear masks or follow any sort of social distancing guidelines.

You would also think the leader of a nation dealing with a pandemic wouldn't encourage people to ignore social distancing guidelines, let alone have rallies where they actively remove any signs giving guidance about social distancing.

But nope. Trump is a narcissistic moron, so he's going to do just that.
