I live in Ontario, Canada and we've really got the coronavirus under control

Population of 15 million, about 100 hospitalizations province wide, about 20 in ICU

And we are not even reopening restaurants for indoor dining yet, playgrounds, etc. We're in a middle phase of reopening.

I watched a conference with the health officers here and they are scared shitless to reopen fully and cite Texas, Florida etc.

Yeah. In my county we had 4 or 5 days zero cases. Then we had that holiday and it exploded.

Not particularly after he's been playing down the virus for 2 months now. But I was a fan of him and his team back in March/April when they did a good job. I watched his conferences to get information on the pandemic cuz we don't get shit here in Canada other than empty platitudes from the government. I'll also note that Texas/Florida didn't follow the reopening guidelines the Trump admin put into place back in April and that's why they fucked it up.

I don't know man. I don't know what's going to happen but it's not good. We've got this thing called CERB in Canada which is basically govermentbux. Parks, beaches, etc are packed during weekdays, all day with working aged adults. We've got about 20% unemployment. Rent and mortgages are deferred until September. The CERB runs until September. We'll see what happens.

In no way am I downplaying this viruses seriousness, but I think a lot of the response from both the left and right has a lot to do with the presidential election coming up. The right is rushing things and not wearing masks. The left wants to wait until a miracle vaccine. Other places around the world are finding ways to open up safely but fir some reason we can't.

I mean, it's pretty simple: wear a mask because it protects others, maintain social distance in public, avoid bars and restaurants as people will congregate indoors and spread infection.

The US is a lost cause at this point until a vaccine or reliable treatment is widely available. Something so basic and vital like wearing a mask has been politicized. But it makes sense for the "I'm the only one that matters in the universe" party. :P

lol, you've been downplaying the seriousness of this virus for as long as it's been active in america. that and repeating this bullshit, repeatedly debunked talking point about how people are advocating for a total shutdown until a "miracle vaccine" is found. Other places around the world are starting to re-open because they took the virus seriously, and kept their shutdowns, social distancing, and pandemic management going for long enough that their infection rate stabilized long enough that they have now reached a point they can begin slowly phasing in re-openings in a safe manner. That is what "tHu LeFt"has been calling for in the united states, and what you've been crying about. People like you are the reason we aren't in that position.
