Its hard to get use to the disconnect between rules and strategy.

i might be improving, idk. People online seem super interested in the study of this game, on chess forums people discuss actually playing more.

Not that hard. It's like chess, the rules are simple. Playing it is harder. But if you put effort into it, its not bad.

SmartGo Kifu app does a good job of explaining the basic rules and formations. Has a tutorial with 100 or so practice problems.
