I dont understand the microsoft controller business. Who actually wants to buy AA batteries? Just checked the prices for xbox one controller and it is 64 bucks, and then if you want a rechargable battery pack, its another 20 bucks, or pay 10 for a cheap one that can melt your controller. Whilst you can just buy a switch pro controller for 73 bucks. Don't really want to mention the useless battery life of the ps4 and probably ps5 controller due to the stupid light, as that is also a very stupid decision. It just seems like a bad deal all around to me to want AA batteries for a controller.

Then you dont have a dual shock 4. That thing has a battery life of 8 hours or less.

Batteries just doesn't seem cost efficient to me. I'm also not hung up on the DualShock 4 battery life as I simply have a second one charging or simply get closer to the tv/console to plug it in lol.

on ce I've had people argue in 100+ post threads that AA controllers are better lmao

the go-to argument is that it lasts longer than a rechargeable controller, which i find to be a joke argument because who cares how long is lasts when it's rechargeable

I haven't used AA batteries to play video games since Game Gear.

XBox is a joke.

Seems expensive to buy a 2nd controller just to have it as a backup, also the dualshock 4 cable is so damn short, at least the switch pro controller can reach an extra 2 feet.

Well I have the second controller cause I like the color and wanted to play with my roommate, not as a backup. Also just use a phone cord like that user said.

The dual shock cable is just a micro USB 2.0, you can get a 12' one for less than $20.

Eh, and then the point of a wireless controller is to be wireless, buying a phone charger or a longer cable still seems to defeat the purpose when you can have a battery life of 30-40 hours.

Yeah right lol I've seen that too

I mean at one point maybe that argument held water? My Switch pro controller have never ran out of juice while I'm playing though. They charge so fast. Can't understand why I'd want batteries

I've always used the charger that came with my Vita. I have it plugged in next to my couch and use it for my PS4 controller and my phone.

~8 hours is generally enough time for a regular day of gaming and then charging it up, unless you do absolutely nothing else.

And wireless/wired doesn't really matter to me. Most of my shit is wired anyway. My phone is wired at the end of the day too. I supposed it defeat the point of a mobile phone!

tbh Ive probably been using the same eneloops for 10 years and they still hold a good charge. Maybe close to 30 hours

Plus the extra batteries are good for other shit too

My 2 PS4 controllers batteries are both completely dead (cant hold a charge). and one of em has a broken USB port so I wouldnt be able to charge it even if I bought a new battery. Im borrowing a friends controller for now that only holds a charge for maaaaybe 6 hours at most

DS4 is wack af

8 hours is a problem when you have to charge it every single time after you are done playing, instead of you know? Not having to if it had 30-40 hours in it. I mean does anyone even want the stupid light on the dualshock 4 anyways? Or the extra features that no one cares about, I mean I want a controller to play a game, not to shine a light or make a noise. Rumble is nice, but that doesn't drain battery like that stupid light does.

Also declining battery life. If a controller lasts 30-40 hours, losing a few hours over the years doesn't matter. When the battery life is 8 hours, losing a few hurts a lot more.

No. If Microsoft charges less, than you could make a logical argument. Since they don't it's just Microsoft exploiting their market control to make people accept anti consumer policies. Like how they got people to agree to pay doe online.

Putting a play and charge kit on your x1 doesn't give it 8 hour battery life.

If it has 30-40 hours in it, I'm still gonna eventually charge it no? Nearly every device I have require me to charge it up at the end of the day so this is literally a non issue.

But yes I agree the light thing should have had the option to turn it off but it is pretty cool when they actually use it (i.e. Fallen Order making it any color of the lightsaber make it cooler in the dark, or some games having the cop lights on it).

Yeah, but charging it once per week, or every single day? Which seems better?

I like the light because it makes it easy to find when Im playing in the dark, and it also clearly marks which controller is for which player. When you have four controllers going, thats pretty important. How do other controllers handle that? Do people just have to fiddle the controls and end up passing them around?

I'm going to charge it every day regardless. Better battery life is better. Battery consumption has fuck all to do with battery type, which is the point of your topic.
