every generation seems to start out thinking they will change the world but it never seems to happen as much as is hoped. As a little kid in the 80's or a teen in the 90's people my age used to be as hopeful as zoomers are now and confident. but we see how that turned out. I wonder if Zoomers really will fix everything or not

I dunno, the current trend this century is a rapid downturn in poverty, conflict and carbon emissions, and we're pretty near all those stereotypical future things, electric cars, AI automation, VR, Mars travel...
The next generation will either just keep that momentum going or go full conservative and mess it all up.

I could see Zoomers being the next boomers tbh. I thought millenneals could bring positive change in the world, but we are to wrapped up on the wrong things and too sensitive.

It's still too early though. Just as I thought millenneals could do good the samething could hold true for Zoomers.

It might be easier to change the further we are from the boomers we get. Once boomers get out of power and stop having such a foothold in society, it might get better but who knows. There might be different problems we'd have to face and many MAY just inherit the same evils that boomers brought with them such as racism and sexism.

Trends show they're even farther left than millennials on pretty much every issue and only around 50% of them identify as 100% straight and they're by far the least religious generation ever, this gives me high hopes. Hopefully in a few generations religious people will be relegated to a tiny minority no one outside of that minority gives a shit about

Oh definitely. Just amused me that the "They'll be conservative, honest!" was pushed hard in the wake of a generation growing more and more liberal. Did they think they'd be teaching values they didn't believe in?

They seem far more self aware early on. My niece at 13-14 says stuff about society and people that I didn't come to the realization of until my 20s. Anecdotal, but it inspires hope. Also, my other niece is the same. I can have grown ass psychological conversations with them. It's pretty dope. Sometimes they even fill in blanks I was missing.

I guess they just prayed to their god that the young folk would just start to randomly hate minorities and non-straight people. Cant fault them for trying, I can imagine how desperate they are watching their worldview die a slow death

Meh, they're still in the 18-24 age group at the oldest & idk if the whole commie zoomer stuff's gonna last. Don't forget the hippies overwhelmingly consisted of people born in the "boomer" years.

As CE's resident Zoomer, most of my friends want to roll out the guillotine on all the boomers, Republican or Democrat

There's still many conservative leaning zoomers that grew up in those environments or have their class interest set that direction, but on the whole I think Zoomers are upset and disappointed with older people, although many are skeptical of their ability to change things, as opposed to millennials.

The generational anger is just as important as left vs right stuff when talking about Zoomers, we don't have any respect for basically any authority figures. The older people have failed us by politicizing science like global warming that affects our future and the shutdown which has affected our education. We will not be erecting statues of the people in power rn in the future. We're not afraid of socialist policies and we're not afraid of agreeing that nazis need to be punched

My nieces and nephews are the same. For example, they think that being transgender is totally fine, just a person born in the wrong body, when it took me an embarrassingly long time to think the same thing.

Yeah, even a decade ago when I was in high school, graduated 2012, "gay" was still the worst insult you could call someone and if you as a male acted even a tiny bit "girly" you'd be relentlessly bullied. Its mind blowing how much has changed since then

Yeah, but boomers grew up during a time when any dumb hick with a GED could support a wife and kids with a 0 skill factory job. Those days are gone and are never coming back

Same. At their age I was throwing around the F word pretty freely. I only really seen transgenders in humorous situations on tv, so I just thought of them as good joke material. I was pretty garbage as a teen. I couldn't cuss in the house and didn't do blue jokes in front of my family, so it never came up and no one ever corrected me. I just did it around other ignorant people. Ironically, it was also tv that helped fix my views tho. As I got older I got more compassionate and into hearing others struggles, and tv was a way to connect to that. I've always lived in bumfuck Michigan, so me actually running into anyone in the community wasn't likely. Met awesome gay people since tho. That helped me stop using the F word, I think.

I mostly agree with this.

Millennials have big shoes to feel as the elder generation. We can't allow things to stagnate like they have with the boomer generation. We will have to work with Zoomers to get things done.

Zoomers have so much potential and it will be the millennials that will either go with the flow or restrict that potential.

I don't really see much of a gap in philosophy. Millenials and Zoomers both want the same things, some millennials will be rigid in the future but we're not going back to how things were before and that's something everyone has to accept.

This is true, they don't really have anything to sell out for the way Boomers & Gen X'ers did.

Exactly, so they're not gonna have a Reagan equivalent to come along and say "hey you guys got yours, fuck everyone else, vote for me to destroy the lives of all of your descendants and I'll give you a little more! And me and my rich friends a LOT more!"

Well, the next generation to come to power would be Generation X. Personally, I think Gen X is still fairly old fashion in a lot of ways, however, I think they're much more open minded to new ideas, progress, and technology than the Baby Boomers are.

Remember, Baby Boomers all had parents who went through the WW2 and great depression era which was very rough, and so I think the Baby Boomers themselves are fairly closed minded and wary of change and new ideas. Also, most Baby Boomers were already into their adult years when computers started to become more prevalent, so they already had there sort of daily routines/jobs down and were not necessarily very keen on learning all about this new technology (that being computers (and even less so for the internet)).

So, the last of the Baby Boomers will retire around 2035 (15 years from now), and personally I think that's when many important things will start to happen. Mainly, I think AIs and robots will start to become much more prevalent. Also, I'm hoping that they then use that technology to start automating farms (and hopefully factories as well) on a large-scale basis, as this will then be able to provide food for much of the world.

Once this is done, there should be strict birth control laws enacted that should only allow 1 baby per woman, as this will prevent overpopulation in the future. We can then start genetically engineering babies as well if desired.

Another thing that should definitely be done (IMO) is to form a global government. The reason I think this is a good idea is because, really, there's not any more major wars going on (because of nukes), and global commerce is already occurring, so why not just come to a more official consensus? The reason (I think) is because of fear and stubbornness (in terms of traditions and cultures (these 2 things are taken very seriously by certain countries)).

As far as Zoomers (or Gen Zers) go, I'm not sure. Assuming the last Zoomer graduates from college at age 22, that will be around 2034, so the rest of the Zoomers should already be graduated from college and hopefully working a lot of science, engineering, and medical type jobs. Although, actually, at this point, Gen Y will most likely have more power, money, and influence than Gen Z (because they have more experience with certain jobs). So, if you want to know when Gen Z will possibly "change the world", I would say, when they come to power, which would be fairly far into the future actually, probably once Gen Y starts to retire which will be around 2051-2066 (31-46 years from now), and frankly I'm not sure what will be happening then, I'm hoping that AIs and robots will have already become prevalent (and possibly other important new technologies as well), however, it's a bit too far for me to make a guess at this point.
