Games on the Switch almost never see a permanent price cut, and when sales do happen, you're lucky to get 30% off. If the Switch was up to snuff with the other consoles on the market, this wouldn't be an issue, but it simply isn't the case. Ports of multiplats almost always suffer a loss in resolution or framerate, if not both. Breath of the Wild is one of the Switch's killer apps (and it IS a very good game), but even it suffers from performance issues. Ports of 10 year old games will almost always be $30 and never see a significant price cut. If you plan on playing a lot of these, it'll be cheaper in the long run to buy a used PS3 or 360 and buy most of them for $10 or less, if not $5 or less. Joycons are fucking $80 and barely last a year of regular play, and instead of repairing them, Nintendo just sends you a new pair. There are absolutely a lot of good games on the Switch, and I'm glad to have played them, but I don't think they justify the eternal full price for Switch games that are 3 years old or barely changed Wii U ports that are sometimes 7 years old. That's not even getting into how they sometimes charge MORE for an inferior version of current-, or even last-gen games. The Switch Tax has thankfully been removed on Resident Evil games, but it's a squirt gun versus a house fire.

Wait how is sending a brand new pair instead of fixing the old one bad?

Unless you had a limited edition model or something that is a straight up good thing.

They literally have the nerve to charge $49 for Burnout Paradise Remastered when you can get it for more than half that price on any other system (especially during sales).

As an example, Ryobi products with small engines (string trimmers, hedge trimmers, etc.) are not made to be repaired and you're usually better off buying a new one if it breaks. While it may seem like an inferior product to almost every other brand that is much more repairable, Ryobis are usually $100 to $150 cheaper than the competition, so they still see a lot of use. Joycons, with their poor lifespan, and Nintendo just giving you new ones when they break (because they will), clashes wildly with the fact that they charge MORE than the competition for something clearly disposable to them.

Carts are expensive to make, and there's an insistence on physical/digital price parity for some reason.

When I sent my joy cons in, they sent the same ones back. I only know because some distinctive scratches remain.

Anyway I'm still mad about Tropical Freeze tbh.

They certainly feel cheap. Switch carts are the only carts I've ever had rattle.

Drift comes from a part that probably has an OEM cost of $3-5, while the disconnect problem is solved by a cube of semi-metallic foam that probably costs less than a penny.

Why are you blaming Nintendo for something that is EAs fault?

Why would you want a multiplat on the switch anyway?

The trade offs are not worth it to have the ability to play it on the go.

They'll just take the casing or whatever off the first one and put in on a new set of internals.

Nintendo games not going down in price is because of how great and mwah they are.

Also I used wd-40 electrical contact spray on my joycons and it fixed the drift entirely. Try it out.

I didn't even do it that precisely like in the article. I just spray it under the control stick and then you wiggle it around to get it in there good. Seems to work really well. I notice the drift occasionally come back slightly but it takes several weeks to reach that point, at which time I just repeat the process.

I don't know why people keep saying Switch games don't go on sale; in my experience it's the first Nintendo system where you actually can get their games on sale.
