ITT please share stories of difficult people you've had to work with and how you work with difficult people in general.

I don't. I let my manager deal with them.

I usually just ignore them or try to interact with them as least as possible. It's not really my issue. I go to work, put in my eight hours, and then go home.

Once I stopped worrying about pissing them off for random reason, it became much easier to deal with.

It could be anything. Say or do the wrong thing, not doing things the way he wanted/expected, asking for help. Half the time we weren't sure what did it, but when it happened he would just shut down. It didn't help that he was hard to get a read on.

Im actually very fair when setting up the schedules for everyone but when the people who consistently bitch and fuck around go too far I just quietly say nothing when they rant about some task I assigned.

The next day theyll get a few extra stops at inconvenient locations off their normal route. Perfectly normal, simply had to adjust for the increased work that day.

Day after that Ill send them back and forth on the freeway because I control the order of where their computer directs them to go.

Randomly do those two things. Then just pile on the work slightly heavier every day of the week until they snap.

Thanks. He wasn't a bad dude, just frustrating. Once I realized it wasn't just me, it got much easier to deal with.

What happens when they snap?

The dumb ones get written up. The smarter ones realize what happened and stfu unless theres actually something they need.

The trick is to be equally as helpful to those that play ball with you. So when some pissed off dude rants about what an asshole you are everyone thinks theyre nuts.

I generally am able to figure them out so they really like me and arent too bad. I have extremely difficult teams Im assigned to because I know how to deal with them. One of our VPs is known to have run off several people and yet she absolutely loves me.

I just try and get to know them as a person and see if we have common interests.

Example, one of my clients was really difficult to work with. Seemed to think that what we did wasnt enough and it always felt like he had crazy expectations. Even my coordinator didnt like working with him. He was frequently rude to her. Then I just would ask him about his weekend or hobbies and found he was a nerd and liked games so we bonded on that. And then every time I had a meeting I would just ask him questions about himself and stuff. He started acting soooo nice after even my coordinator noticed and would make comments about wtf happened lol. Sometimes its just reminding people that youre human too.

I work in IT so I normally don't have to deal with them too much. The past few months I have and most are reasonable and I can deal with them. Some are just brain dead and i'm not sure how they even manage to get to work in the morning.

He thinks I'm his friend so when I ignore him or call him a jackass he thinks it's funny. This allows me to continue ignoring him and calling him a jackass.

worst I get is people who dont respond or ignore me.

I go to their manager.
