Yeah Finn and Poe did s*** all. Captain Phasma was the new Boba Fett. Maz Kanata did nothing after the 1st appearance. In all honesty I thought Luke was fine. My only problem with using the original trio is that they elevated the story to nothingness. Yeah sure Han helped progress Kylo a little bit forward. But the wreckage of the 3rd movie made it a bit of a waste. The inclusion of the original trio feels cheap in hindsight.

Maybe in some sequel comics or TV shows we will get some alternate stories, but there is no way they just remake Episodes 7/8/9. My guess is they go the Mandalorian route, and make new stories w/ just some loose ties to the original movies.

I doubt this is true, but I'd be 100% on board if it was. TFA was an ok starting point, but TLJ tossed it all in the trash. ROS tried to take it out of the trash, but it was already trash at that point and it just got worse. Favreau knows what he's doing with the Mandalorian so I'd trust him with the franchise moving forward. I see them going an entirely different route though, either jump way in the past or in the future for the next mainline films.
