Its in the millions, but I'm having a hard time tracking down a hard total. I've seen totals for the same year vary by huge amounts depending on the source.

There were 4 million slaves in this country according to census done right before slavery ended slavery lasted 200 years 1619 -1865 I wouldn't even begin to know how to count two centuries of people born in captivity

Looks like the 1860 census put the number at about 3.9 million, while the population of the united states at the time was around 31.4 million, including the slaves.

Yeah, the question on the whole is difficult since even if you did year-to-year comparisons there's no way of knowing how much of that is overlap vs new slaves (because some either died or were freed)

Ya, the wiki puts the initial seed at around 600k~700k and the final count at around 4~5million

This part. The task become insurmountable when you have to try to guess at these numbers. We only have rough estimates at best.

If your making a million a year, how much money is left for your company to hire people at a living wage? To make matters worse your probably sending all the work to other countries for the cheap wages, depriving people here from even having the opportunity to be hired.
