I had my drivers license for 1 week before I had to drive someone to Chicago and got caught in rush hour outside O'hare airport. One of the chief reasons I'm much braver as a driver than my brother. Luckily I was just in the strip and walked everywhere, but even that I never felt safe. Yeah, heard lots of bad stuff about LA. Could only go by my experience. I've driven in near standstill expressway traffic around Irvine and it wasn't that bad, but maybe people are more relaxed there than in LA itself. They were definitely friendlier than in the equivalent traffic situation in Chicago. Never felt like I was about to be rearended becuse of someone in front of me stopping short with 20 feet between them and the next car, for example.
