The testing in total has gone up but not proportionally as much as is needed nor as much as other states. Additionally and more importantly, the positive rate of tests have substantially increased.

i mean, it's a simple fact. We went from not testing people because we didn't have enough test kits to not needing to do that. It's why cases have held steady but deaths have dropped.

What you want to do is say the line of thinking that we're only seeing increased infections due to increased testing is idiotic. Because we're seeing it due to states opening up, people not taking PPE seriously, protesting, and increased access to testing.

I don't think it's so much that social distancing is a complete farce. It's more so that with a contagious virus that spreads from people breathing/coughing/sneezing in close proximity to each other, social distancing is a compliment to wearing a mask in regard to slowing the spread of it.

Neither social distancing or masks will 100% stop the virus, but when used in combination, they will slow the spread.

Just like seatbelts don't 100% stop car accident deaths. They reduce the number of car accident deaths, though.

Social distancing helps, just like being outside helps. If protests can't be tied to spikes its because of masks and being outside.

As for New York "letting people die", thats bullshit. NYC is the most densely populated city in the country, and it relies heavily on buses and subaways. Thats going to spread the virus around. We've already seen what places like this go through with some of the worst hit parts of Italy. NYC still sees infections, and its still far the dense city it always was. It being under control means something whether you like it or not. It didn't achieve it from letting everyone die.

As for this being a case of more testing, thats probably bullshit since they decided to hide how many people are in the ICU. They probably have a shit ton of people in the ICU, and they are hiding it to keep people from being afraid for the July 4th holiday. Newsflash, ICU numbers don't go up because of tests, they go up because people are getting extremely sick.
