The FGC and it's followers have always been wierd as hell, because I've seen people I would usually consider completely decent defend or wave away this kind of stuff because "the player is too good to let go".

I guess it's just like regular sports in that way.

Yeah I usually hate cancel culture, but I'd say he's one of the exceptions where I think it's justified.

As far as them quitting Fortnite goes, this season flooded the map, so I wouldn't be surprised if they quit because of that.

I can at least understand complaining about this normally, but in this case public relations is literally part of his job and he failed at it.

I don't think this is that weird? It can be fun to watch people play regardless of who they are or what type of person they are, and that's what FGC spectators are there for in the first place. I know in my case a good example is Hyuga, who was an extremely skilled Smash player who brought something to the table that nobody else did as basically the only Toon Link player at the top level. Even if I can rationally identify it as a good decision and agree with it, I was still sad at the fact that I wouldn't get to see him play in matches anymore.

The guy was absolutely shitty and deserved to be gone.

EG was absolutely shitty for waiting until now to do it if they knew about it all along. If they actually cared they would have done it years ago and the fact that they wait till now makes me think they are a sorry excuse of a company.

A big focus of this is something he said in 2017, but it's definitely not just based on one incident. Those kind of stances and behaviors have been consistent from him before that and since then. Three years after the major receipts and he hasn't shown much in the way of growth or change at all.
