Nintendo doesn't typically delve into the sociopolitical realm. Every once in a while, someone will say that Peach is a strong woman who doesn't see herself as being protected by Mario -- then they'll go back to her being a helpless damsel in a pink dress being rescued by Mario. LGBTQ+ representation is virtually non-existent outside of Fire Emblem. Racial diversity and inclusion even less so.
