He took beef to her name on freshman, 18 y/o Phuc Bui Diem Nguyen as a series of emails were posted by her in her second day of class where he told her her name was offensive because it sounds like an INSULT in English!! She was nicknamed "May" in high school and is proud of her birth name who was looking forward to using it in college but her professor was not a happy camper and she did not want to change it to please him and said she would respond by filing a Title IX complaint if he didn't quit it. Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states No person in the US shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.. But Hubbard maintained his objections and then blatantly said "Your name in English sounds like F* Boy" and even went further with his racism.. She didn't know what Anglicize meant at first so her friend screenshotted it and shared it around on twitter. She said she's never heard of that before and was surprised after googling it and then called her best friend to ask what it meant.
