The statues of St. Junipero Serra, the first saint of the Roman Catholic Church to be canonized in the U.S., and Francis Scott Key, the author of the lyrics to "The Star-Spangled Banner," were also torn down at the park on the same day.

This is about toppling because the statue is there to topple. It's not about who the statue depicts. If there had been a statue of Mickey Mouse, they would've toppled that too.

It's looking pretty prosperous for the millions of people living paycheck to paycheck. It's great for the millions who will be ruined by a single medical emergency because they either don't have insurance or have a high deductible. Employee exploitation in the name of profit? Cool. Cops killing people? Fine. We still haven't even eliminated LGBT discrimination. Everyone will be swimming in money when we destroy the environment. We can't even manage to figure out how to get through a crisis without tanking the economy AND helping no one.

Everything was just so perfect before dumbasses elected Trump. LOL. Trump isn't some disease we inadvertently picked up and will be able to just move on from. He's a pus-filled, smelly cyst symptom of a diseased nation. He shouldn't be possible otherwise.

I don't know about you guys, but my history class was taught exclusively through statues and monuments. We'd have them lining the walls of the whole school and we'd take field trips to dozens of statues each week.
