Give us an Andalite Chronicles movie IMO. I reread about half of the series as an adult, and this one stood out as amazing.

That's a great one.

Another one that stands out to me is the one where Cassie turns into a butterfly on the cover, I think The Departure. She's so disgusted by the war and all the violence that she decides to give up her life.

I'm not sure the main series books have enough in them indiivually to adapt a single book into an entire movie without some serious padding.

The chronicles books probably do since they're longer.

I don't know how they can manage a movie for this series. Individual books are way too short to make a good movie, but the full series is way too long. There are some individual story arcs that would work like the various Chronicles or the David story, but those require you already be familiar with the series.

You could do a series of movies breaking down several books and turning them into a workable script and cutting out the one-off stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the main plot.

It really should be a TV show though. I'd make it animated personally, but whatever.

Its buried in the construction site where the animorphs met Elfangor. A yeerk finds it in one of the megamorph books, but thanks to time shennanigans on the part of the animorphs, his host body is never born and so its never found.

I love how the heroes time traveling to prevent a child from being born is an accurate description of a children's series.

No. The Yeerks are invading humans with the intent of enslaving them. The Yeerks and the humans don't have any active treaties with each other establishing the terms of engagement.

I still do not see them getting this right, the books are actually very violent and lots of limbs are lost during the combat morphs.

Maybe they do go hardcore dark and gritty but I have a feeling they wont or will fail to implement certain things.

Animorphs in the book form was marketed to teens but it had some really dark shit.

Yeah I agree. Rachel alone was freaking hardcore. Even if they don't include David and all that, I feel like there's no way they'll portray how violent she could get. A toned down Rachel is not really Rachel.

On a side note, they can leave out Cassie, she was annoying. Or at least make her less preachy.

Cassie needs to be there to show even some who hate the war still do fight, she is a very important character even if you disagree with her views.

The irony is Rachel and Cassie being friends, one is a axe crazy killer, and the other a tree hugger.

Hopefully if the movie succeeds, they'll use that to turn it into a show. A movie is one thing, but it's honestly a story that needs more than 2 hours to tell properly. And there is so much potential that just can't be done in the time frame of a movie.

That's true, plus she's the way they get most of the morphs. I like the parts when they do stuff in the zoo. She just felt like an author stand-in to me though. Like it wasn't that she was just the opposite of Rachel, she was also usually the one in the right. Preachy characters usually rub me the wrong way but you're right, they couldn't take her out.

I mean sure. I don't see why anybody would be mad about this.

They're probably going to go pro-diversity. It should not offend anybody if the lead is a 14 year old Black girl with puffy hair.

And, no, it hasn't been relevant. That's the point of a remake: you update something for a new generation. Though I guess it's understandable if Millennials are confused about what a reboot is. They think it's when Hollywood resets a video game because they failed a mission and want to start over -- like rebooting The Terminator every couple of years.

I mean, yeah, this should be a fun film for a new generation. If you don't like it, try and remember it's for kids and not for 90s kids.

@FortuneCookie
The characters were already diverse as hell, Animorphs did the whole diversity thing naturally not needing to tick off check boxes. Instead of pandering or trying to be diversity quota they just had 5 young people from all different backgrounds who were friends. No one gave a shit about pushing an agenda it was about telling a good story with people from different walks of life who had to wage guerrilla warfare.

I have to think you never read the books as Cassie is a black girl but she is NOT the POV character in book 1, that would be Jake who is the leader.

Instead of trying to make Animorphs a stupid shit show they need to just stick with the source material.

When Alloran is briefly freed from Visser Three's control was really depressing.

All in all the books were just incredibly depressing. Some funny and lighthearted things would happen but overall it was a story about war and the effects war can have on people. Like Rachel didn't start as a crazed killer, she slowly gets to that state.

You can't change that just too appeal to a newer generation.

And they rotated the POV character, which was a really fascinating device, because we not only got to track how everyone felt, but how everyone felt about everyone else.

I feel like that's part and parcel of the character though. Cassie was basically the group's conscience, the only one who worried about more than winning the next battle or even the war. Who valued even the freedom of a single child. Which is why she's the only who survived: even after everything that happened, Cassie could move on.

The 90s knew what they were doing with inclusive casting / token casting. And, yes, it was as political then as it is now. The internet just didn't have the presence back then to be able to launch mass complaints about it. Instead, we had politicians getting mad in news articles because Disney's Mulan taught girls they could fight and possible join the military.

It's possible that the new movie will retain the original characters in their respective roles and demographics. It's slightly more likely that the film will introduce a new cast or do the Power Rangers '17 shuffle and keep the names while changing character race, sex, or orientation.

My gut instinct tells me this one's going to have a female focus and a person of color as the team leader. And unless you have strong sentimental attachments to the cast of the books, it probably shouldn't matter that much.

Marco's the only one who isn't explicitly in a relationship. Though I guess Jake x Cassie never really went anywhere and they could skip that if they want to. Rachel and Tobias shouldn't be gay, because berserker preppy girl x orphaned nerd trapped as a hawk was always a novel romance.
I mean, it would be weird if it was Ax...besides, there's already a pansexual alien in pop culture...

Its also necessary for the story to work.

That would've been interesting for Alloran to morph away from the poison and then do a last stand against the yeerks, morphing some of the scary creatures that Visser 3 had him acquire. Probably should't happen in book 8 though.
