Florida is a good example

Their Republican governor was all about letting the WWE do live shows and opening the state up as fast as possible. Now they're getting 2,000 new cases a day.

According to my state it did as we just reopened in full today. Still want to be working from home so I hope they shut everything down again soon.

Yes. That why states are reopening. The wave is over time to go back to work/normal. It why people are ok with all those protesters close together corona 1st wave over.

Every state should have done a complete stay at home order until June 1st at the earliest. We should be just now seeing how it affects us to go back to limited things.

Them's the breaks tho. These governors wanted to win favor with Trump rather than protect their people.

With respect to COVID-19, people are not OK with all those protesters being close together. And again, some states re-opened while the 1st wave was still going on.

Ultimately the initial failure is owned by Trump

The 2nd failure is owned by the governors who are too stupid to understand that Trump doesn't believe in science and only cares about the stock market.

ever since the protests started I see this a lot. I honestly dont know if this is purposely done or some sort of subconscious bias to end the protests. Thats for you to take a look in the mirror TC and figure out for yourself.

Many people think we were closed too long.

The only reason the country was closed for so long is because people refused to follow quarantine and social distancing guidelines, which resulted in the virus continuing to spread. South Korea has had less than 100 cases per day since early April.

In the US only the Northeast comes close to being past the first wave. Much of the Midwest is past the peak of the first wave, but not close to being completely past it. Large parts of the South and West haven't even reached the peak of the first wave.

this.... but i hated it during those 2 months where the beach was closed. no one could get sick it was a large place. problem was the prom that is where people got clumped together.

also to note maybe just closed it during spring break because of the tourists

my dog is the reason for this, she loves her long ass beach walks sometimes (doesn't do em as much as she used to) currently 9 years old.

We're just now reaching the point of time after the start of the protests where you might reliably see an uptick from the protests.

If the current new cases surge/keep going up reliably day by day across a multitude of cities (particularly big cities like NYC, Atlanta, and Seattle) then yeah you can point at the protests feeding into it(they inevitably are, just undetermined how much so).

But look at Florida and when they reopened the beaches. thousands upon thousands of people packed together on the beach. It'll be hard to point at any one thing. It'd be wrong to also point at one thing to the exclusion of other things

to be fair, they don't know anybody who:

1) Has gotten it
2) Anybody who has been around somebody who has gotten it
3) Anybody who has died from it

Those who know one of the above likely takes it more seriously.

People in the middle of nowhere Wyoming don't see the severity. People in the middle of Tallahassee probably also don't see the severity. For now its an "on the news things" and until it becomes readily apparent everywhere you go that people are sick in the streets, those people aren't going to catch on even if its just in some weird way to save face because they were wrong at the start and can't admit that.
