I just have no clue what it's even trying to be.

Like it starts as basically a beat em up or Kingdom Hearts game.

Then you have the slow, boring exploration.

Then about 6 hours in it actually becomes kind of tactical? And you have to constantly switch between characters to use their specific abilities and materia in order to win fights? But most of the characters aren't fun to play as (Tifa and Cloud are the only characters that are any fun).

It's just a slog!

Maybe actually just remake the game I enjoyed a lot when I played and not put out whatever this is and say it's a remake.

The forced walking sections are a slog and chapter 6 was bleh but I liked everything else. The focus on pressuring/staggering and party member switching makes the combat different from others and fun.

Oh, I'm on Chapter 6 now. Maybe the issue I have is just with this chapter. Guess I'll have to play some more.

I cant either, but it doesnt help that I probably wont buy it.

Around 6 is where things start getting more tactical and less faceroll; I was a bit disappointed until chapter 6 because you could just mash square to win a la Kingdom Hearts. The game really eases you into having to perform at higher levels.

This. Also glad they stuck with action combat. I loved XV but know it wasn't perfect and i feel this games combat is better. Just as i hoped they attempted something and stuck with it and improved upon rather than ditching it.
