You can't do anything physical to a police officer without putting your life and livelyhood at risk, and if you do survive you will be branded as a criminal by the "law". Even if the cop is evil or fucking crazy, out of line, and escalated the situation. There was probably some assumption from some people that the cop knew what he was doing and was just 'subduing' the guy rather than slowly murdering him. This wasn't Rodney King. If I glanced at this situation happening I would think "ok" without having the knowledge that this guy was on the guys neck for 5+ minutes until he stopped breathing. Its like if you saw someone put a guy in some kind of MMA choke vs. if that guy just held the choke until the person was a corpse.
