Not even exaggerating, one segment DOES have the game ask you to save twice, because there's legit 45ish minutes of scenes where you just sit there watching. And that's in the first game, it gets better in the later one but. :l

Doesn't help that to fully understand the story you'll need to play through like 2-3 times and read some Wikia discussions and whatnot.

Does it even have a remotely satisfactory conclusion? This was the series that was supposed to flesh out all the other timelines in Xenogears and from what I remember hearing it never actually tied into XG in any cohesive way beyond Easter Eggs.

It was never tied to Xenogears. Its all just fan service.

The series is a train wreck of a story being split into three games alongside developmental trouble.

One of the Episode 1 trailers had a scene that wasnt actually seen until Episode 2 and the games has flash-forwards to scenes that never actually happen or happen quite differently in subsequent installments.

Nearly every sub-plot or side story is infinitely more interesting than the main story and the character concepts were wasted on said main story.

An ultimately unimportant yet very interesting character who dies halfway through Episode 1 is given more backstory and cutscene focus than most of the main task throughout the entire trilogy. Keep in mind that a playable character in all three games had his entire backstory relegated to a cell phone game.

So that stuff at the end of Ep 1 that showed a Fei and Elly lookalike for a split second was all just bullshit????

yeah
it's a good game but it's very heavy on the kuwaii animu.

If you can get past that shit, it's a pretty solid turn-based RPG with good graphics, gameplay, and themes (space n shit).

The script/characters/etc suck though. As is the case for many JRPGS. Be wary.

I'd have to spoil a lot about the characters endings as well as the overall story and how it concludes.

And in that regard, I'd have to go into an essay on how certain parts of the story were manipulated by the main villain... Except then I'd have to explain more of the backstory. Otherwise I'd not do it justice.
