Not trying to troll, just wondering. New York, California, etc.

Better question would be "Why are red states always such trailer-park crapholes?"

I'd guess that more people flocked to certain cities and states because there seemed to be more opportunities and acceptance. At the very least they give the impression that they're less discriminatory.

Places like Detroit were known for music and cars at one point.

Well for Hawaii it's because of the extremely limited land, beautiful weather and scenery, and the fact that we're like 2,500 miles away from the nearest state so getting items is extremely costly. We do have the most homeless per capita though :<

Still, with all those factors, a certain resident communist on this board thinks the land in Hawaii should cost the same as any other place, even trailer parks in the boonies on the mainland lol

Alaska is a red state but it can be kinda costly to live here. Food costs more at least. But we are kinda a unique red state

think of the 50 states as a family.

You have the hard working dad, the hard working mom, the kids who are not working but they're improving themselves and... you have uncle steve living with you, he doesn't do anything and he lives off his brother (the dad).

The only reason uncle Steve is alive is because he's living off the hard working people. If the entire family was like uncle Steve they'd all die. If Steve lived by himself he'd need to change.

Think of blue states as the mom and dad, and think about red states as uncle Steve, even the richer states like texas.

The only reason the red states can get away with their shit policies, low taxes and de-regulation is because they can live off the blue states. States like CA and NY pay far more in taxes than they get back, and that is exactly the opposite for states like KY. Even Texas, if it were its own country it would need much higher taxes in order to fund their own military, social safety nets, etc. But they don't have to, because daddy (federal) government pays for that.... with blue state tax money.

From what I read, a lot of Texas money comes from oil and other minerals.

Also I wouldn't mention Alaska and Hawaii in a debate about blue vs red states. They're outliers for obvious reasons and comparing them to the other 48 is just dishonest.

In all honesty I just wanted to poke fun at the fact that anyone could think that all land should be priced equally.

Can anyone explain the homeless crisis in blue states? Or why in California they give drugs to the homeless because of covid19?

It always cracks me up when Fox News is ranting about how life in CA is so horrible....I live in LA and far from it. It makes their viewers feel better about themselves. Even with the high taxes and homeless, I'd rather live somewhere unique and exciting, with a real culture. Maybe they'll get to visit my neighborhood one day when they're on vacation. I definitely won't be visiting THEIR neighborhoods.

There's a correlation to population density and having "liberal" views. Probably comes with an increased need for community areas, public transit, and interacting with different cultures on a regular basis.

Population density also means more expensive housing.
