Besides horror games, theres never enemies that the games and characters say dont fight them. Youll lose, and youre actually given the freedom to try.

Instead its forced battles you cant win or your character cant engage.

Bonus points if you can attack an ally of the super strong enemy and enrage them to hunt you down.

Do not engage Lu Bu!

Although it was totally possible to kick his ass when you first saw him, you just had to be perfect. And run like hell when he started throwing super mode and such, I think they were called musous. That shit would kill you dead.

I can't think of game like that. Usually if you still end up losing anyway or the game just crashes.

Demon's and dark souls are both particularly good at this, ending the tutorial section with a tough boss that is designed to kill you and send you to the next area, but offers bonus rewards for successfully killing him.

it's been a while, but I think that in Yakuza 0, they tell you the money collector guy will kick your ass, or something like that.

and Dark Souls 3 has a sign telling you to turn back a few times, iirc.

Well, I can think of a few but you're right that it's not especially common.

Psycho mantis in Metal Gear Solid.
You actually can beat him without the controller port trick. He dodges six attacks in a row and gets hit every seventh.

There was a Full Metal Alchemist game years ago, cant recall name. And at one point you fight Scar, who is this ridiculously powerful enemy you can barely hurt. You are expected to lose the encounter and continue but it is possible to beat him and you get a rare accessory. Trick was a random box has a cow in it thats the avatar of the creator of the manga. If you activate it at right moment it devastates Scars health. And then you just counter his attacks over and over.

Other one was in the brawler game The Warriors by Rockstar. Theres a part where youre getting chasef by a rival gang, think its the baseball freaks. And youre supposed to run away cuz its like 20+ against 1, you have almost no chance of winning. But if you get them against the wall you can smash their head and it has I frames. So I stunned a ton, they kept coming and I was having this insane, epic brawl kicking their ass. I turned and did a flying body block into like 9 guys at once and it overloaded my ps2 and shut off the game. Never seen that haplen before or since.

There are others I cant recall atm. Catacombs or new londo in dark souls got mentioned.

Outside of games that have legit cheat codes like Goldeneye, psycho mantis is as close to what DarthAragoen is looking for as you're going to get.

If you really stretch the definition of cheat, there are quite a few Souls bosses that can be beat by cheesing them, like standing behind the bone pile against flamelurker and using arrows because he can't hit you or sniping Manus before you enter his lair.

In Xenogears, the fight against Alpha Weltall could technically count, as you're supposed to lose the fight against him, but you do gain a sizable chunk of xp and a unique item if you do beat him, though the story still progresses as if you lost anyways.

I managed to beat Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors 3. I glitched him into bouncing repeatedly off of the boundary of the arena and repeatedly struck him in midair.

I was disappointed when it was treated like a normal victory instead of awarding me some unlockable or big cutscene.

This, also you're not breaking the game but you can kill The End early in MGS3 and skip the boss fight all together. Not cheating but more hidden trick

Kratos the first time you fight him in Tales of Symphonia is really hard, but you can actually beat him. If you do, you get a level 3 EX Gem and a giant pile of experience for your troubles. Of course, you fight him immediately after another boss, so it's pretty tough.
