I would say yes, I was a huge fan of the game, and it was basically my most played game of 2019.

The historical accuracy bits are a little hit and miss, there are some things that are just horrible history-wise (although some of these are to make gameplay more fun or fit the game in the AC lore (as lazily as it does that) - I doubt phalanx formations would be as fun as the cluster**** nation battles) but for the most part things are pretty good accuracy wise from the settings and how the characters behave and such.

Shit leveling system, other than that, it's ok. A 6/10. If you want a full comprehensive review, feel free to ask. I won't speak on the story because I haven't finished it, but I've got the gameplay pretty much down.

I agree with this, although Id personally rate it more like an 8/10. If you complete the different ways of completing the game at similar rates (ie. tackle all 3 endings) it can be really easy to cheese the whole game. The legendary Poison/Fire weapons from various runs in the Cult line can just wreck everything without a ton of trouble.

To each their own. Personally, brotherhood is an 8/10 to me, and Black flag is 10/10. I like Odyssey, but after I finish it, I probably won't replay. I do like that there's a lot to sink your teeth into though, it's a really meaty game. But the problem is that it's just a bit too repetitive. How many times have I heard, "Just in time misthios, let me repay you." I do like the mercenary system too, but it does feel a bit like a rip off of the SOM games. I guess I'd give Odyssey a 7/10 now that I think about it.

Origins is better - it's a more manageable scope of content, the main character's story is more compelling, and the writing in general is more focused.

Origins is the better story/characters, but I preferred Odyssey and Greece over Egypt.

Abilities can be OP, but its still fun and Kassandra is bae.

Yeah, it's great. And ancient Greece is beautiful. Worth it just to explore the sites tbh.

Its worth noting that Odyssey (and Origins for that matter) have a Discovery Tour mode that is a non-combat walking simulator basically that tries to teach you about Ancient Greece/Egypt.

I havent used it much, but its pretty fun if thats what youre looking for.

2 was a really big jump in overall gameplay quality from 1 for many reasons, but Revelations ("Assassin's Creed 2: 3") was the best Ezio game. But I don't recommend skipping 2 and Brotherhood just to play it.

I really loved Odyssey, sunk 100 hours into it. Loved the photo mode, but really I got hooked on the loop of sneaking into forts, picking off guards, and getting rewarded with better gear and abilities.

I liked it a lot. Game is gorgeous and well acted, some side quests are very well written and there's a ton of different systems to sink into. I loved ship combat and hunting cult members for example.

Biggest drawback though is how they handle leveling. Its a very sharp thing in this game, you get destroyed by enemies ~3 levels higher than you and can barely scratch them. Feels like numbers for numbers sake, doesnt actually feel like you get stronger by leveling. Hoping they fix that for Vikings.

Btw, play as Kassandra. Much better acted and she's a fox.

Definitely play as Kassandra. If you play as the guy you have to stare at his banana-hammock rag underwear every time you swim. Plus Kassandra is just great in general.

Whoa, that sounds awesome. Do you know when that was added? (I havent been able to connect my PS4 to the internet since like September.)

i was interested in getting this game too

can someone elaborate on the loot system, that is what is appealing to me about ACO. is it a game where you can really customize your play style & try out different character builds, or is it basically just a way to gate content (you need gear level 100 for this mission, you're at 90) and every character ends up playing the same?

It's like any RPG these days - enemies drop weapons and armor, you can find unique weapons and armor in certain set locations, sometimes the Bounty Hunters drop unique (or at least rare) loot, and there are certain armor sets you can find that unlock special perks when you wear multiple pieces.

Higher level gear = stronger by default, but if you really like a weapon (maybe it sets people on fire) then you can also pay resources to upgrade it to your current level.

I think some builds are more viable than others, but you can technically try them all out on one character so it's not a big deal.

The problem with this is that the gameplay doesnt get more complex in any meaningful way. Sure in any rpg, you get strong as enemies get stronger, but there's usually new mechanics and spells being introduced as the game goes on to keep things fresh and make you feel stronger. In odyssey, yeah there are new moves but its very superficial and doesnt meaningfully change the gameplay.

Yeah I agree with you. If anything I feel like my character gets weaker the longer I play, enemies get more spongey and it just makes it artificially more difficult. I guess I could turn the difficulty down but it's just annoying design.

The leveling was brutal in Odyssey, Origins was not really a problem but the enemies in Odyssey were like sponges, even on the same level. I had to drop the difficulty for the first time in an AC game.

And Kassandra was indeed hot, the real actress is cute too.

I thought the enemies were pretty decent when they were at least on the same level, the only sponges were the "special ones" (I guess every mercenary in the game is also a demigod).

When they were a higher level then you, though, things did get ridiculous. Like ****ing wolves would OHKO you if they were a level higher, making the earlier game just miserable. But by about the midgame (earlier if you do a bunch of side-stuff) and you reach levels closer to the other areas a lot of that pain goes away.

If they were higher level AND a sponge, good god, just quit now.

Yeah; late in the game you get armor sets that really lend themselves to one playstyle or another.
