I have 2 of them and even if they were both accidents, I dont regret them at all

Expensive, pregnancy/childbirth sounds absolutely horrific, i don't want to sacrifice that much of my time for someone else >_>

When i'm more financially/mentally stable I might consider adopting or fostering a kid. I think it makes more sense to provide for a kid who's already out there and needs it, than to bring someone new into the world.

of course if something somehow happened on accident, I would do my best to be a good parent

Mental health issues pretty much guarantee I'd be a shitty parent. I love kids (my nieces and nephew have brought a lot of joy to my life) but I just don't see it working out.

Since Ive been married Ive noticed a slight uptick in people asking if we are ever planning on having children. No, were not, but heres the thing. It isnt just a simple oh, I hate kids, because I really dont. In fact they can be rather fascinating little creatures, many wise beyond their years. Nor is it about lack of sleep or money spent or anything that shallow. The truth is they simply dont bring me joy on a soul level. I know a lot of people love the idea of creating this little life and nurturing it and watching it grow, and thats great for them if thats what they want, but it just doesnt do anything for me. I dont possess those instincts. Unfortunately, saying so in todays world will quickly get you labeled as some sort of villain, but I like to think Im mature and self-aware enough to know fatherhood isnt for me. I suspect a lot of people probably feel the same way but cave in to societal pressure and the image of what a family is supposed to look like. But family takes many forms and at the end of the day its all about love, and whether that love is shared between two people or five or ten shouldnt really be up for judgment.

Theres enough people in the world. Plus im kinda selfish, volatile, and have never met a woman id trust enough to reproduce with. Also it would hurt me deeply to watch my kids get traumatized by society, not gonna let that happen. Sorry mom

I don't hate children either, I like them, I just personally would not want to be responsible for all the mistakes that I would inevitably bring to the table with a child.

I just don't care about about them. I can take them or leave them. Depends what my future spouse wants. There's advantages and disadvantages to having them, so either way is fine with me.

Likewise. On top of that, I believe that there are more than enough people in the world and that a bunch of people choosing not to have kids would make for a healthy balance.

Also, I just cannot seem to get a stable career and living situation going. That, I think, is definitely something that needs to be settled before considering having a child.

I agree with what a lot of people are saying here already, i.e. expensive, my wife doesn't want to do that to her body, too many things that can go wrong, my we both have anxiety disorders, etc...

On top of that though, based on all my friends who have children, it absolutely comes off as more trouble that reward. They constantly go on about how difficult it is and how they don't have time to spend on themselves. From the outside, it looks like their lives changed for the worse.
Like, I get it. It's selfless and respectable to raise a child and give them the gift of life. But me and my wife are not mature enough to do that now, and probably never will be.

Also, in a slightly edgier take, the planet is incredibly overpopulated, especially in the area that we live, so TBQH, having children and contributing to that seems like the wrong thing to do. Look no further than the dopey coronavirus epidemic right now for why more people seems like a bad idea lol.

My daughter is the definition of an accident. We even tried taking the morning after pill but it didn't work.

However, I am extremely happy it didn't work. Our daughter is incredible. My wife getting pregnant definitely changed our lives drastically but I wouldn't change anything.

I had no desire to have kids. I never really connected with my nephews and find them annoying a lot of the time.

I now have an 8 month old baby and he's an absolute joy. Seriously spending time with him just makes me happy in ways I couldn't imagine before.

I feel like Id probably be over-protective of them. Like at first Id be afraid to let the kid out of my sight. Id be constantly worrying and worrying over the smallest things.

I dont want to explain to the wife that the baby somehow got itself lost or killed during the 20 seconds I was busy looking at my phone to make a s***post on a video game message board.

I dont want a child to get in the way of me acting like a child, I want to be the one playing the Nintendo.

Part of it is due to my stellar inability to cope with stress and handle responsibility, as well as the likelihood of passing on the shittier aspects of my overall rather poor genetics, but another part of it is just that I'm not comfortable with the idea of creating a life and subjecting it to the world. I'll take a lot of risks but that ain't one of them.

Kids are pretty cool though. My nephews are a blast but I'd hate to be around them all the time or in charge of them.
