Eh, it's about as toxic as most competitive games. The only difference is people have easy access to anonymous and depersonalized communication via text chat and the games often last 30+ minutes, meaning a longer time for frustration to build and more exposure when a toxic person does start acting out.

I played LoL at a decent skill level and play other competitive ranked games like Rocket League at a high level, and to be frank in something like Rocket League the people are just as toxic. They're just limited to spamming "What a Save!" instead of "KYS" most of the time because of how the game plays.

player 2: fuck off, i want to play top

*match begins*

player 1: fuck you, i am gong to feed and talk about how shit my team is in all chat

player 2: fuck you, i am going to idle at spawn and talk about how shit my team is in all chat

player 3: i'm going to try something i've invented called vladimir support, good luck everyone

*match goes on for 50 minutes because the enemy team is having the same problem and everyone goes back to base after team fights*

seriously, this is like 1 or 2 out of every 5 matches in LoL, never seen anything like this in any other video game

There was a bug in one of the AC games that made it so people when visiting other players' places, could use a GameShark or whatever and essentially overload the place with seeds so the file would be corrupted, resulting in players having to buy a fresh copy of the game if they wanted to keep playing

Doing the best is a very subjective thing in OW. If you, as a healer, have gold in either damage or kills, you better also have the gold in healing or you're not doing shit.

Unless your DPS are braindead, but that's very easy to tell.

On topic I believe any game with PvP will have toxicity. And that will never change. People in general have strong reactions to things like losing, getting outplayed, competition etc. Combine human nature with online anonymity and pit players against each other, thats what happens. I could also make some observations about 'gamers' but its not necessary atm. Random example but, did you know if you crouched on a dead players corpse in Halo 2 and rapidly unloaded a pistol mag in their head, a volcano of blood comes out? Its quite a sight. That was how I welcomed people to the match and set the tone.

Anyways, my experiences in the Dark Souls community, while certainly not all bad, have jaded me forever as far as "gamers" are concerned. I could write a short book about how fucked up people are in those games. Including myself

Honestly I've gotten 0 toxicity in the beta so far

This is in spite of the fact that they're mixing people who've played CS for decades with people who've never touched an fps before
