Yeah, I live in an area where there are a shit ton of fairly well paying jobs in the services industry (so, a lot of places are mandatorily closed) and my complex has deferment plans apparently. Idk, even if I got laid off, even standard unemployment (Ive heard that its boosted now) wouldve more than paid off my rent/bills. And my complex had regulations in getting in that you had to be making gross 3x your rent in your monthly income. But it just goes to show just how little most people put away.

1. Doesn't change that ost people have no choice.

2. Let's say someone wastes $5 a month on lottery tickets.

Even if you save that $60 a year, That won't pay your rent.

Under normal circumstances, it certainly can be a way to earn a better income. Land and property are almost always valuable.

And if you really want to become more wealthy, having access to a passive income will go a long way.

Follow up to my post would be that I live in a complex where rent is a couple hundred more at least per month than any number of other apt living options in the surrounding area. So to live here, youre already gonna have a certain amount of discretionary spending a month - otherwise, youd just pick a cheaper living option. The cheaper options in my area are not in bad neighborhoods either.

You're not likely to ever own your own property without incurring some significant debt. If you're renting, you charge a higher rent than you'd pay in mortgage payments and related expenses so you can either pay more toward the balance, take as profit, etc.

I didn't pay my mortgage this month

because i refinanced a couple weeks ago for a lower interest rate

As expected, think of all the Barbers/Hair Stylist/Nail Techs who can't work because they are considered non essential. They have 2 land lords to pay and can't work because the government won't let them.

It's just money, I know people are stressed out but you can't work if you are dead. Have to be smart.

Unfortunately land and houses within certain location are finite so they CANNOT be a right. Especially when you are competing against hundreds of other people possibly for said land and housing.
