When it was privatized, it was renamed to The Learning Channel, or TLC. As it started turning toward reality and entertainment programming in the 90's, they also began distancing themselves from their full channel name, since learning doesn't sell. Now it's intentionally geared towards stay-at-home housewives with shows like My 600 Pound Life, Say Yes to the Dress, and 90 Day Fiance. Also, why bother producing content to fill your entire schedule with programming that fits your theme, when you can just run episodes of The Middle, and Fraiser, and call it a day? --- Make my funk the P-Funk.
