The other candidates dropped out

Most people like moderates, young people don't vote and a lot of bernie supporters believe that not voting is a good thing.

That got combined

Bernie did a fine job campaigning. He got his message out exactly the way he wanted, with basically nothing sticking to him other than the things he himself has said in the past. There was no shortage of media attention put on him. The simple problem is that loud Twitter users aren't representative of the electorate, and when push comes to shove his platform just isn't nearly as popular as people online screamed that it was.

The Moderate Voltron came together, and Warren is in there sapping progressive votes from him. He's in an uphill battle all of a sudden. The only one helping Bernie right now is Bloomberg.

It's a combination of Biden's blowout in SC giving him a second wind in this race as well as Buttigieg and Klobuchar dropping out and immediately supporting him. Warren also refuses to drop out and is siphoning votes from Bernie.

Young people don't vote in primaries. They're all about the big election. Bernie would have a much better chance in November but he wont make it there.

Name me a single election where youth participation was anything close to that of older age groups.

I really don't get this talking point. If Klobuchar and Buttigieg stayed in the race, they would siphon off votes and delegates from Biden absolutely. But that still means the people who are voting support more moderate candidates than someone like Sanders or even Warren. People can blame the DNC all they want, but voters are the ones making this choice - not the DNC.

Yes, ultimately it's the numbers that decide who gets in. But even that is seperate to the fact that the DNC clearly doesn't want Sanders winning the vote.

I just like seeing an open field and not a blatant showing of team over country. Greatly shorten the election season and institute ranked choice voting.

I blame the parties because the parties exist. It's just a fight to see who will take their turn keeping their party treading water, with the occasional oddball giving them a brief scare. We aren't an environment that promotes change and new ideas.

Okay I agree with that sentiment. I definitely feel like rank-choice voting is the way to go, but I was actually surprised to find that its not as popular of an opinion with political scientists (let me see if I can find out where I read/saw that).

And I agree with the open field. But then we have so many Sanders supporters here bashing Warren for still being in the race despite the fact that she presents an alternative to Biden, Bloomberg and Sanders. I am not talking about you personally, but I think many people care less about the structure of these things and more about their specific candidate winning no matter what.

I am actually pretty sure most Warren supporters would go to Biden, not Bernie. Policy is very unimportant to most voters. And both Warren and many of her supporters dislike Bernie. A lot of it is probably emotional as well, which is the biggest factor deciding voting behavior. Bernie gives them a bad feeling and they might rationalize it later, but it doesn't matter they aren't voting for him. So the idea that her dropping out automatically helps Bernie is kind of wrong.

Now endorsing him might be a different story but she would never endorse him unless no other candidate was viable. She's a Democrat not an insurgent.

Not exactly. When you break down the demographics, even younger people are voting for Biden. Yes, more voted for Bernie but not by a lot. And Biden does A LOT better with blacks and Latinos.

Biden surprisingly now has a great chance of beating Trump.
