Not asking the same question twice.

Do you guys believe that Bernie Sanders could beat Trump if he becomes the democratic nominee?

My only concern with Bernie winning the nom is that it might mobilize Trumps base more than, say, Biden.

But I still want Bernie to win the nom

No.

This election is a foregone conclusion and Trump will win a second term.

And that's coming from a guy who thinks nearly every moment of Trump's term so far has been a travesty.

Yeah, pretty much the same. I do think Biden has a possibility of pulling it off if they can keep him duct taped together for 10 months here but if he gets the nom I think he'll fall apart by the election. Of course Trump has fallen apart constantly since announcing his candidacy and it hasn't hurt him, but alas.

Bernie wouldn't stand a chance. I don't know why so many people act like he's a shoe-in if he can get the nomination. He can pull in some usual non-voters and bring in younger voters that probably don't turn out for Biden, but a huge swath of middle America blue collar democrats are never going to vote for him. They'll stay home or vote for Trump (vote for Trump again in some cases, he didn't win Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc without winning over some usual union democrat voters).

If Biden doesn't implode he can win the blue dogs back. Win them back, all those states Trump won my the tiniest of margins in 2016 go blue, and Trump is done.

Then we have to put up with Biden for four years, but hey.

My husband shears the same perspective as you do.
I believe the majority of Americans really want drastic change.
I think Bernie Sanders will cause Trump supporters to come out in great numbers but it would not be enough to defeat him.

The party leaders are the ones trying to funnel as many members away from him as they can because he threatens the interests of their supporters.

Bernie is winning overall but the democratic leadership believes that he's too far left to win against Trump so they're grouping together to make sure he doesn't get the democratic nomination.

Bernie's momentum alone is showing that Americans want drastic change unlike what Buttigieg believed.

It's not. That's what people said about Hilary in 2016. Believe me, I want Trump to win. He's the first thing I think about in the morning when I wake up and the last thing I think about before going to sleep, but there's no guarantee that he'll win. He has a reasonably good chance of winning, but he can still lose.

For all the bitching liberals do about Trump, you'd think they'd vote for whoever ends up nominated. But no, a good percentage of them will stay home, or vote 3'rd party because their prefered candidate doesn't make it to the general. And when Trump wins, it'll be their fault.
