That's when the troops should've started coming home. You can't realistically occupy the Middle East or enforce democracy. Nor can you rid the world of enemies. There's always gonna be a potential danger out there somewhere. We should've pulled out long ago. I won't say that I'm apathetic about what happens to the people there, but we can't police the world. It's not our nation to try and govern. All we can do is go in and take out the bad guys if they threaten us. We did that already. We could've walked away after killing Bin Laden, declared ourselves the victor, and let happen to Afghanistan whatever may. But that also would've meant forfeiting the lives of our troops that had been taken prisoner. A terrorist group has no reason to honor the Geneva Convention. So it was going to be absolute victory culminating with the disbanding of the Taliban or an eventual terms of agreement which saw us getting our prisoners back and the Taliban getting their country back. <cite>Skye Reynolds posted [p:935060888] in US finally...
