2 of my friends have cystic fibrosis. From what Ive read, this virus really attacks the lungs. Im scared but I feel terrible for those with lung disease. I dont see how they can overcome this =/

Yeah I live across the street from a sit down Chinese restaurant thats super popular. The last few weeks Ive noticed less and less cars in the parking lot. But over the last week, its been completely empty. I feel terrible for the owners.

When I was in San Fran last week I went to the highest rated place in Chinatown and it was basically abandoned.

Welp, I'm near the eye of the storm in Washington, so to speak. On Friday our CEO sent us an email encouraging us not to shake hands and that all in-person interviews and international travel plans and events are canceled. No shocking lack of activity anywhere I see but a lot of people wearing masks. Store was not overly short on anything. I might try to order some canned goods to see if they are out on online stores but I doubt that.

Help me understand something because I havent been following this until recently.

For China as a whole, has this been isolated to just Wuhan? Thats the impression I was under. And if so, was it due to their quarantine measures? From everything Ive seen, it seems like they were fantastic in their quarantine practices and their cleansing of the city and routines they have to go through now. I seriously fear if (once?) this disease quickly spreads through America. We wont be ready for this.

I have a friend who went to dinner with an Asian friend over the weekend. He said that people were looking at the guy funny, and many were trying to back away from him. So sad. I get people are scared of the virus, but there's no excuse to treat people like that.

I live in Rhode Island, so that sucks.

unless you go when the place is "low" occupancy if it isn't within a known corona infected town.

Isnt less risky to work outside than inside? Even if you pass by multiple people outside who are already infected.... surely that's better than inside.

Working inside means you're fucked if you spend like 2 hours in a closed room with an infected regardless of symptoms.

My parents are stuck in Shanghai Pudong Airport. Air Canada had rescheduled their flight to today and to leave via Air China instead. Turns out that flight is canceled as well. Airport staff have had my parents running around for 90 minutes with no proper information. Now we are both on hold with Air Canada (me for almost an hour). The whole detour to Thailand due to the virus put them beyond their budget and don't really have the spare money to pay to stay there for however long is required (they are retired pensioners).

I'm fucking pissed. I never received any notification that this flight was canceled. My parents had been traveling since yesterday at 200pm (over 24 hours now). Now they might be stuck there even longer.

I thought they cancelled PAX, that was massively irresponsible. They even cancelled small meetings in Japan. Which has made things incredibly boring here (I usually travel at least twice a month, but all my March meetings are cancelled already).

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KTRK) -- The Center for Disease Control mistakenly released a patient from the San Antonio Texas Center for Infection Disease Sunday, according to Mayor Ron Nirenberg.

Nirenberg said in a press release that the patient was released from isolation at a local healthcare facility Saturday because they met the criteria for release, including two negative test results.

However, the patient later returned to isolation after a pending, subsequent lab test came up positive for the virus that causes COVID-19.

The CDC says others have encountered similar situations where test results have alternated back and forth between negative and positive.

Why are they still not aware of this? We've known for a while now that corona tests very commonly have false negatives.
