I read something recently saying get a 24 hour gym membership.. it's like $15 a month, theres a bathroom and showers, some places have free food a couple times a week. Its somewhere to stay out of bad weather also.

It's sad how it is entirely possible for a person to be unable to get to any of that.

Its not impossible to get a job if you do nothing but try to get a job for 10 hours a day. I can see the other options being limited for some people. I'm nowhere near a beach, but if I walked for 7 days straight I'd make it to one.

It's impossible depending on your condition, and your area. Paradoxically, no one wants to hire someone obviously homeless.

7 straight days with money, or enough packed food and water, yes.

I said I would walk. There are many options though. TC has not given us any context, so I'm giving general advice. I'm very attune to these things. I was broke in Australia years ago, and I'm not from Australia, but I had a work visa thankfully.

I'm predicting some problems during the interview process.
I'm pretty sure even McDonalds has a "underwear goes inside the pants" policy.
Not that they enforce it really strictly, but technically I'm sure it is on the books.

This was hard to read, literally. Anyway...

Most homeless people have mental issues, unfortunately. Some, are just down on their luck for a short term, so its easier for them to snap back. They can adapt and use hacks like the other guy listed, like getting into a cheap gym or using a free place like the YMCA in certain areas. Ask for free food from local shops before they throw them out. Libraries and 24 gyms are straight forward, but hard to find in certain areas.

Couchsurfing is also an option. Literal free room and board.

This is not necessarily true. There are shelters that will take you in and places that have resources that will help you get back on your feet. I have not been in this situation myself but I did some volunteer work many moons ago. I now volunteer exclusively with animals but a lot of those places require you to be substance free though which is where it gets tricky for a lot of people.

being homeless is definitely tougher than people say it is. how do you apply for jobs if you don't have internet? how do you use free Wi-Fi if you get kicked out of the coffee shop or library because you look like a panhandler? how do you go to a job interview when all of your clothes look like shit? how do you pass the background check if you have a criminal history? how do you pass a drug test if you're not clean?

you have the shelter part down which is good. now look for resource centers that help you. they can set yoo up with interview skills, resume assistance and even interview clothing if needed.
