This is such a weird non-statistic. Since Clinton, to whom this doesnt apply, there have only been four contested primaries and only 2 of those had the same person win both Iowa and NH. And those were candidates that didn't become president fwiw (Gore, Kerry)

Yeah, that statement had alarm bells going off. The results of two primaries, and weird ones at that, being 100% predictive is just implausible.

American politics are fascinating. You start with two small states that can have a significant impact on the narrative moving into states that actually count.

Going to laugh when Buttigieg gets clowned in non-white states and watch the media spin

So who do we think will drop out next? Of the candidates that matter at least, my guess is Warren. Gabbard also put her entire political career into doing well in New Hampshire and that didnt pay off, Im expecting her to drop out and run for Senate there in 2022.
Why not just run for Senate in Hawaii since she's already representing Hawaii.

Meanwhile Trump had a MASSIVE turnout in New Hampshire yesterday at his rally and primary.

President Donald Trump handily defeated his remaining GOP challenger in the New Hampshire primary Tuesday night.

In all fairness, Bill Weld ran a really boring and low energy campaign. He made it all about bashing Trump and impeaching him, not highlighting his record as Governor or talking the disastrous effects of Donald Trump?s import taxation hikes or the socialist farmer welfare that Trump provided to farmers that were harmed by those said import taxation hikes. In a world where where Bernie is making Socialism sound cool and presenting content that comes off as fun, Bill Weld provided an outdated 1990s styled campaign. Donald Trump had no competition.

I fucking dare you to make an anti-trump post without also including some snide comment about leftist economic ideologies/Bernie/etc.

You can't do it. I swear to fuck. You wouldn't be able to.

(And I'm talking about in random topics/conversations, not as a direct response to this post... although I'm not sure if you could even do it then)

I'm going to predict it's going to be between Sanders and buttieleg in the summer. They will be neck and neck. Like Hillary vs Bernie 2015.

I know it's too early to tell and biden could recover to win some of the larger ones, but I dunno. Doesn't seem all that popular.

Polling disagrees

But doubling his support with black voters only garnered Buttigieg 4 percent of their vote, and Bloomberg (with 16 percent support) appears better-positioned to capitalize on further Biden struggles in diverse, delegate-rich states on Super Tuesday.

This is an unusual year where the media decided to talk about who theoretically might get the most delegates rather than most votes. They certainly never claimed Ron Paul won Iowa the year he got the most delegates, but not the most votes.

Were you alive in 2012?

The reason that people didn't claim Ron Paul won Iowa afterwards is because the Iowa delegates were chosen in June five months later. On the night of the caucus, the delegate split was projected as 6/6/6 among the top 3.

Also it's irrelevant, because the GOP does their caucus differently (in particular they do a secret ballot and use the popular vote). This is the first year that the IDP has reported the popular vote. 2016 results were SDE, 2008 results were SDE, 2004 results were SDE, etc.

I think SDEs are dumb, but it's stupid pretend like the media just now picked that as the number to report just to hurt Bernie.

Nate Silver talked about how it was unusual how much they focused on SDE this year instead of popular vote and that his model had figured the media would focus more on the popular vote so that caused problems. The media isn't making it a secret that most don't want Bernie to win, but regardless of motive it is indeed unusual how much they focused on a measure we can't possibly know the actual result of for months.
