Not even the original GBA had a lit screen

I remember having one of those "worm lights" for my GBC

I remember playing my GBA walking to my friend's house. There was a huge sun spot on it and I thought it broke...

I do miss the old days...but damn gaming has evolved. If someone told me that we'd have a console that we can play outside in handheld mode, I'd half believe it.

the Game Gear was

it was ahead of its time in that respect

It was also ahead of its time in terms of energy conservation.

The device was a meta commentary on the wastefulness of disposable batteries, and actively consumed as many as possible to push the market towards the rechargeable liON ones we use today.

But that thing used 6-8 batteries and only lasted about an afternoon IIRC.

While it's hard to go back it was never a problem at the time and I could play in direct sunlight.

Wasn't there something about the bulb being shit?

I swear I heard that if you just replaced the bulb the Gamegear batteries last like 7 times as long.
