Current Events > Far Cry 4 or 5?

I want a fun open-word shooter. I already played FC3 years ago and it was a blast.

I preferred 4 more than 5. I don't know if it's because 5 was so similar to 4 or that 90% of 5 was filler missions with hardly any story missions but I ended up rushing through the last 2/3rds of 5 once I'd cleared the first area.

I thought 4 was much better than 5. FC 5 will still scratch that Far Cry itch, but FC 4 is better.

Wow, didn't expect people 4 to be so much more favored. I heard FC5 just has too many enemy spawns so you never get a breather, and I don't think I'd like that.

The story is also weak because there's 3 regions and you can play them in any order. So it's not like cohesive.

Also the ending was pretty fucking dumb.

FC 5 also has forced and sometimes timed missions, if that's an issue. Personally not a fan of either.

I really liked both so. I dont know. In 5 you could use op dlc weapons if you want and the dog partners spotting ability is very strong.

And also the story to 5 continues in New Dawn and i liked that too.

Only for a little while is that an issue. I had completely forgotten about that complaint until I read your post. I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor - the forced and sometimes timed missions are more of a minus than enemy spawns.

4. I'd say New Dawn over 5 even. It's got some RPG touches and there's crazy crap like the double jump. No weapon customization kind of sucks but it's not like you're loaded with options in 5 compared to 4 anyways

They're built on the same engine so of course a lot of the underlying stuff is the same, but there's enough differences between the two to say that they're "both the exact same game" is nonsense.

I didn't play 4. 5 was a great game, I got it at launch and played the shit out of it and I really enjoyed it...until a game ending bug hit me in the third area I did, after completely finishing the first two. A bug that only needed some doors to be toggled to unlocked during a certain event to be fixed, but as far as I know is still not fixed to this day.

Far Cry 4 is a better game then 5.

The setting in five was just pretty boring, and I hate hate hated the flying missions.

The only "flying" part of the game I had trouble with was when you're in the boss fight against John and have to shoot down his plane with yours.

Unless by "flying missions" you mean the like Clutch Nixon shit in which case yes, I never did finish those.

What I found really annoying in 5 is there seemed to be no shortage of enemy pilots flying around shooting at me while I was on foot, but if I got into a plane and tried to dogfight then there would not be a single other plane in the sky. So irritating

The planes spawning overhead really took me out of the experience I was going for when I would be out roaming.

Its not that bad, I kind of like it but its continued on in New Dawn and to go from the ending of 5 to result in the mediocre ending of New Dawn is kind of pathetic.

At least something big happened in the ending of 5. Again, like 5 feels stupid if you were just going for the ending of ND.

I couldn't play Blood Dragon for more than 20 minutes. Everything feels so cheap and the lack of color scheme doesnt help

I respectfully disagree and the ending of new dawn took both leads from 5 and shit all over them in a limp ending.

4 has better story missions, a much better arsenal and more engaging outposts.

5 has more well-rounded side missions and the action is generally more exciting, plus I loved the Guns for Hire system. But the AI was bad resulting in outposts being weird challenges, and the arsenal felt very limited in comparison to 4. It also has a more straight up action movie vibe to it, where you'll have enemies rolling down the road at you non-stop. The main story mechanic is a bit overwhelming at times, too, when you get roped into the next story mission because of an arbitrary point threshold even though you're trying to do something else.

5 is a good game and it's more recent in my memory which is why I wrote more about it, but between 4 and 5 I think I'd recommend 4.

I liked FC5, but it had a lot of annoying things about it -- things you can't mitigate, like the main story missions suddenly appearing because you took out peggies, and the lack of enemies in the post-game. You could build your own levels in the Uplay designer or whatever it's called, though, so that gave it a little extra longevity.

FC4 was pretty enjoyable, though.

I am in the minority of people that prefer 4 to 3, but haven't played 5 yet although it's coming up pretty soon in my back log. From what I've seen, I dig the setting and premise, but for some reason I'm very bothered by the melee takedowns not being as stabby as the others. I love sneaking up on dudes and jamming them up with a knife

I liked 4s endings cause theyre all pretty fuck you. You get one and think itll be really different on the others side but fuck you, its not. And the main antagonist is like You want it? Fuck it, its yours! Bye!
