Sure, a lot of them have an addiction or drinking problem. But so do a lot of people who manage to hold down jobs.

Why do you want them to take on more personal responsibility? Do you believe they can contribute more to society than other people that aren't homeless?

I want them to stop thinking they're entitled to my money, and realize that 9/10 times, they put themselves in their situation.

A decent amount of them are homeless as a result of closing down all the nuthouses from the 50s to the 70s or so, so probably not.

I'm homeless. I dont speak for any of them, only my self. I'm homeless because of bad luck, and maybe a couple mistakes.

There's no motivation to work anymore, what do I need money for? A place to live? I don't have friends, dont have a phone.

I think it's a waste of my time to get a minimum wage job (only thing I can apply for)

And nothing about school intrigues me even if it was free

I dont even do drugs, im basically straight edge

Renting a cheap room and working a job is a better lifestyle. If you don't get back on your feet, how will you ever be a homeowner with a nice car someday?

They say people can adapt to anything. Perhaps being homeless isnt that bad once you get used to it.

And hey no stressful job, bills, or responsibilities.

Blame robots. They're taking the jobs that those people could do and giving them to robots.

Only old people have trouble with the self check-out lanes. if you're between the ages of 13 and 50, you should have no issues with using self check-out. I actually cringe at the difficulty people have at times or how slow they go about scanning and bagging.

having no personal bed and having to sleep near 20 people really really sucks

Gotta love when one the first few posts furthers the discussion and everyone else purposely overlook it so they can keep having their shallow conversation that has no beneficial points.

I'll just admit this problem is way bigger than me and bow out tho.

Then again, with TC being who he is, why would I expect this to turn into a helpful discussion anyway.

I was homeless for 2.5 years, until someone helped me. Durring those brief 2 weeks I joined the military as fast as humanly possible.

I just had horrible drug addicted severely abusive parent that somehow managed to pull me out of foster system right before they would have helped me in adulthood (still think foster system did it on purpose for them to save money was there from 9-17). Ended up on streets not even a month after, in a location I didn't know, without any friends.

I never once did drugs even after joining Marines, I never even touched alcohol. I just had no home and no one hires you or takes you serious when you smell like rotting sewage and have dirt caked all over you. I stayed the heck away from homeless shelters, they were like forced criminal recruitment centers, and did not feel like being forced to do heroine. Some older couple offered to let me stay with them briefly after I helped them push their broken down car in snow till it started.

But sure blame the homeless people like they are worthless pieces of shit instead of unfortunate and unlucky.

Don't use them! You're killing jobs. At least I live in Oregon where we still hire people to pump your gas, thus creating jobs for people.

I like the idea but it's just a matter of time before they get rid of those too. All companies care about these days is the bottom line.
