I would say yes, that's what I did and I thought it was pretty not bad.

Yes. There are basically no related plot points besides Max liking to drink and the game plays much different but is still really fun

I felt the same way, 1 was fun when it came out but it goes on for so long and the bullet time aspect wears down on you. 3 is a more traditional cover shooter.

The graphics are ridiculously good on PC and on 360 it's 30 fps and you can't skip the midlevel cutscenes which is a pain if you keep dying near one And if you play KBM you can play it more like the old games. Just swing around corners with bullet time and clean people up. I'd recommend either way. Great game --- SIG ... Copied to Clipboard!

yea, there is some backstory that will better help you understand why Max is the way he is in Max Payne 3, but you're given enough through the game that you'll be okay.
and I know that I'm in the minority, but I didn't like Max Payne 1. Max Payne 2, on the other hand, is one of my favorite games, and is a lot less frustrating to play. I'd definitely recommend it, if you have the chance. --- b-bb-box ... Copied to Clipboard!

I actually really like the story of Max Payne 2 but you don't need it to play 3.
