aka The American Dream is a sham.
Our parents and grandparents may have swallowed it (and it may even have been true for them) but the current generation is learning rather harshly that simply keeping clean and putting in hard work doesn't mean you'll be raking in the cash and live the good life. These days it's more like 'work hard and your reward is more work', people are busting their asses and have nothing to show for it except maybe a shitty apartment or the house they share with Mother. If they can even afford to have families of their own you can bet the whole '2 1/2 kids + white picket fence and a dog' scenario isn't quite playing out like they were told it would.
The issue isn't so much 'billionaires exist' as it is everyone else getting screwed over. And that's why more and more people are looking favorably upon socialism and an increasingly dim view of capitalism.

They also forgot that you always need to be looking for your next job along with working smarter, not harder...

It really depends. A lot of people go work for crap companies and they get screwed them over so now they are bitter and petty about it.

You have to find a company that'll respect you and know your worth. My current job right now I told my boss that I want to invest in a company that invests in me.

The biggest issue is how these greedy universities and Colleges are charging an arm and a leg to attend. It's not capitalism's fault that Colleges are the most greedy and money sucking asses that exist on this planet.

In turn, this leads millennials to needing a high cost of living right when they get out of College. They have to begin to pay off their student loans, and unless you picked a strong degree where you're guaranteed to make big bank, you have to look for a new job every year to try and make more money. Regular businesses can't keep up with the demand for high salary.

Unless you're majoring in engineering or some other vital skill, you're very likely wasting your time and money. Colleges have become a scam.

Boomers could work a summer job and pay off their tuition. Today, you need to sell your soul to FASFA or some other government funded loan to even finish College unless you've worked hard enough(or gotten lucky enough) to gain a scholarship.

I would STRONGLY advise anyone who doesn't know what they want to do with their life to first try learning a trade. People will always need electricians, plumbers, etc etc.

It's not that hard work is never rewarded. It's that people are being told hard work is rewarded long past the point where they were supposed to be putting in the hard work. If you tell someone working a dead-end job who barely passed their way through school that if they work harder they will be rewarded, it's probably not going to happen. Someone should have been giving that person that advice when they were in middle school.

It is crazy that there are people who have like no perspective, who think they will just graduate college in four years and make hundreds of thousands of dollars and own a house and two cars like their parents. Shit takes time to build up.

This

This generation wants instant gratification. They dont want to graduate college and get an entry level position. They want to graduate and be a VP without any experience. And they expect to have a big house by the time theyre 30 instead of working for it.

People also arent educated on how student loans work and looking into worthy college majors. Why on earth do people spend 150k on a liberal arts degree from an out of state college and dont know that 150k loan has to be paid off somehow. Were in an era where we have all the information at our fingertips and people still make the same decisions.

It would be great if the government gave grants to students pursuing STEM degrees and other in-demand certifications to incentivize those, instead of gender studies and stuff.

Inflaction, Rich people getting richer with marginalizing profits.

We're currently discovering why capitalism doesn't work. It's just sad that we have to be the ones to endure the affects.

Ain't no excuse still.

The main issue being that even entry-level positions are often requesting both a 4 year degree and multiple years experience for low level pay.

A pay level that is not worth getting the 4 year degree, most of the time.

It should be noted that the classic 'work your way up' strategy in a company is also dead. The only real way to improve your career is generally finding a new position in a lateral move/changing companies these days.

It's not a sham, in addition to seeking higher education, and skills you also have to start investing. Just having a decent job isnt enough.

That and there arent many reasons why anyone young, single, healthy, no criminal record and with no children cant reach. And if so state them. And it has to be something specific, not vague stupid s*** like automation.

I did the same thing. Worked out well for myself. Get a foot in the door somewhere and work your way up.
