Even if they made it the safest plane to ever exist, the consumer confidence for the aircraft will never be restored. It's certainly a massive financial blow to completely scrap the line but Boeing really has no other option.

I dont know how I would deliberately avoid one. At what point during the ticket buying process do you find out the plane type?

Back in the day, I flew on the old DC-10s. Wasn't happy about it but there was no choice sometimes. If they R&D the shit out of the 737 max - and it proves safe - people will fly on it.

Once I found out how terrible Boeing really is with QA, I try to avoid all of their aircraft.
