The 71 people who lived on a tiny Canada Island off Newfoundland and Labrador have voted UNANIMOUSLY to abandon the town for good and relocate in other parts of the country after the government announced it was cutting off power and other services for good and will save 20 MILLION in doing so.

But only TWO brave people plan to stay on Little Bay Islands ON THEIR OWN and will spend 50k of their OWN money to survive on their own..

The Liberals have given the residents on the small island until December 31st before services, including electricity, snow removal and ferries forever.

Almost all of the people have jumped the coop and left their dilapidated house and headed to the mainland for christmas while finding new life of the majority of canadians

But Mike and Georgina Parsons have chosen to STAY in the ghost town as they prefer the QUIET LIFE and have no children and plan to live on their own on this tiny island..

The town voted in unison to leave after the tight knit community with the island's fish plant closing in 2011 and only school shutting its doors 4 years ago with no people having anymore children.

The Liberals will save roughly 20 million over the next 2 decades from relocation where most of it comes from the ferry services

Georgina and Mike told CTV that they intalled a solar power system and fresh water well and stocked up on meds, dry and canned goods and now have 6 FREEZERS full of meat to last 2 years.

They also got the towns boats incase they need to row to the mainland on their own despite being stuck on the island for 6 weeks due to ARTIC ICE in the WINTER!!

Georgina said "We're not nervous at all. It still feels a bit unreal"

Mike said "The town has gotten much quieter...every day now people are packing up and leaving"

The government paid out residents to hot tail it as part of a resettlement program as some residents couldn't get compensation since they only lived part time there

55 were permanent residents and all voted to take 8.7 million paid out to the town to leave. Many were old and frail and couldn't live away from the mainland any longer to find doctors and other health issues

Some residents who only lived part time were outraged they couldn't get compensation since they only lived part time there and feel insulted

As for Mike and Georgina, they are going to prove to people that you don't need to live in a big city to survive and they will live 2 years all on their own with no electricity to prove it.

While I disagree that the funds came out of the Canadian Pension Plan, the donation has been largely successful, saving millions of lives - and moreover, large Indian corporate entities in turn returned about 1/4 of that back in business contracts.

Canada is doomed because they didn't want to pay 14,084.51 per person each year in a place where they most assuredly weren't carrying their tax burden.

The people that lived there voted in favor as well. What is the news here?

They're going to lose power, I guess they could run a generator but they would have to pay for the shipping I don't know that gasoline will stay good for 2 years even if they stock up on it now.

I don't know how much money these people have but I still think they are going to have trouble making it for 2 years.
