I do think it's the best one, but BOTW isn't behind it by much. There are only a few Zelda games I've played that I wouldn't call great. And they're still very good.

Completely agree, Link to the Past is an all-time classic while breath of the wild is a generic wide as an ocean deep as a puddle game

As someone who has recently played through all the Zelda games for the first time within the past year or so (except for BotW, havent played it yet), ALttP is MASSIVELY overrated. Like its honestly baffling to me how the nostalgia goggles in this thread make everyone think its the best one. Its a great game for sure, I love it and its one of the best games Ive ever played, but both OoT and Wind Waker are much much better.

Ill never forget my first time playing through OoT especially, that game is magical from start to finish and I can forever replay it over and over without not being entranced by its design, story, characters, gameplay, etc. I honestly cannot say the same for ALttP, I got bored halfway through my replay of the game and stopped altogether. Incredible game for sure, but definitely not the best game in the series.

They're both great. I don't see where the curbstomp comes in. Oh yeah this is the internet where you have to trash something

Well and that's exactly right. It's what a Zelda game is. The formula is perfect and the game just works. It has no weaknesses, and it's a Zelda experience with everything you need. Searching for heart pieces, finding the Ice Rod and the Cape, exploring the world,etc

I'm just now playing Breath of the Wild because I was gifted a Switch. Only other Zelda games I have played was the first one on NES and Windwaker on Gamecube.
