If $60 is a noticeable hit, then skip it. I personally got more than $60 worth of entertainment out of it and I havent even finished my endgame team yet

If you do buy it and have Nintendo Online, then the exclusive pokemon dont matter. Only the gyms would matter, and I chose Shield for the ghost gym instead of the fighting gym

Shield's got better version exclusives IMO

Only pokemon I miss that are available in Sword are Farfetch'd/Sirfetch'd, Scrafty line, Hydreigon line, Kommo-o line, Stonjourner, Darmanitan line, and Flapple.

And the gyms really don't matter as much, unless you'd rather fight against Ghost/Ice in Shield as opposed to Fighting/Rock in Sword.

This is a pretty reasonable synopsis.

I got it for $70 AUD, and I got a solid 60 hours out of it. It was an expense I didn't mind going in for, since it's the first Pokemon game I've been able to get my hands on in almost 10 years. I didn't hate it, but by the end I was comparing it to Pokemon Crystal in my head and Crystal was winning.

It's nowhere near as bad as the pre-release shitcanning made it out to be, but it's a little threadbare in places. I enjoyed seeing the roster of Pokemon that appeared in the game, I had a fun time in the Wild Area and I really enjoyed the different gym leaders. If y'all don't stan Melony don't even talk to me.

If you've got the cash and feel like indulging in a new Pokemon experience, it should scratch your itch well enough. It'll be a little bit barebones, but it's a solid enough game. I wouldn't advise anyone to prioritise it above other things they're interested in getting, but it's alright if you want to give it a go.

Not completely, but those are what I'd consider the dealbreakers for most people. There's a handful more that I didn't mention, but they're mostly just singular pokemon or version exclusive G-max raid pokemon.
