It's a complicated question.

The porn industry is pretty shady. There are some pretty nasty stories of how porn stars are treated and how exploitative the industry can be. Porn can be addictive as hell, and really warps the way some people view/experience women + sexual relationships.

But sex is a universal human experience. You can't do anything to get rid of it and in the grand scheme of things, porn is still one of the healthier ways to address that experience, even if it does have its drawbacks.

I think I'd be in favor of more federal regulation of the porn industry. Just for starters, I think 18 is too young of an age to legally be allowed to participate in porn. That's high schoolers. Generally at that age I find it hard to believe that you're fully mature/seasoned enough to make decisions about what to do with your body.

I can understand this logic

However

with today's picture heavy social media society and what problems we are currently facing, upping the legal age for nudes would be reckless and could potentially ruin the lives of young adults.

Unless you're specifically referring to industry porn and who they can hire, but all that would do is create a massive "amateur/barely legal" market and create shady companies that skirt the line of "industry" porn.

We're stuck at 18. We can go lower, but I really don't think anybody would ever vouch for that in any serious manner, especially in politics

I can't really say it's bad for society, because it is inherent to society. It's like asking if people are bad for society.

Yeah. It probably is. Remember when that Girlsway producer was accused of forcing girls to have sex with him... and absolutely nothing happened to him? Or when Twitter bullied that one porn star into suicide and everyone just forgot about it? And wasnt it Nina Hartley who said that shes had every STD imaginable and the clean porn star is a myth? Being in the industry is probably hell. And being outside the industry and addicted to porn probably isnt much better.

Pubescent Minors seeing porn is not that big a deal.

The big deal is all the exploitative advantage taking of barely legal women/desperate women, poor health/safety standards, sex slavery and child porn.

As far as people watching it? I'd say its just like most other things that can be addictive or abused; find a balance, don't let it get control of you. Though I personally don't use it much at all anymore. I think a lot of "stories" in porn can be damaging to the psyche (incest, cucking, misrepresentation of certain races) are far more damaging than just looking for some T&A to jerk off to.

As far as for the stars in the industry; I don't know. I've only looked into it a few times, and most that get out of it don't have anything but damage done to themselves from being a pornstar.
