I had the GBC remake. It's pretty good, but I played it a long time ago, so don't take my word for it.

It was the first console rpg I ever played I think. Though I didn't know what an rpg was back then. I must knew I liked it. I never finished it though and my brother sold the game to my friend before we moved across country

gameplay is a lot different. dragon quest iii is considered a classic.

I don't think any of the Dragon Warrior games hold up from the NES. 3 and 4 are better than 1 and 2, but are still very archaic in many ways. I would prefer Crystalis to any of them to be honest. I have them all currently as carts, and in this moment, popping Crystalis in is preferable to the Dragaon Warrior quartet. **** I'll caveat that by saying 3 has an awesome world, but the gameplay is ehhh. --- You know how fads are. i hate it when people say nes games don't hold up. if it wasn't good at the time then i guess it wasn't good but time doesn't make a classic unplayable.

Worse DQ4 is one of the best games in the entire series. The one main drawback in the NES version is that you only really controlled the main character's turns, and set tactics for the rest. It's a great game, loved it as a kid and it's the only reason why I knew of SNK.
