yesssssss I get to choose which private company bankrupts me for getting cancer. I want my right to choose to pay more for less care and have a bean counter decide if a treatment is necessary instead of a doctor. It's dumb, Pete knows it's dumb, but he also knows this focus grouped well to fool certain voters since we have a lot of illusion of choice fetish in America.

Funny how Pete was for ending private insurers, stating med4all wasn't going far enough, before his billionaire chaperones decided for him to take the center right lane.

yeah, it's pretty orwellian that the ability to change jobs to find health care you like is some how a feature of our system and not a bug

BadderHare posted...
pete supports a public option, but nice shitpost

that creates a two-tier system that is especially problematic if you need a specialist, who is probably capable of only seeing clients that will reimburse him or her at the rate private insurance does, rather than the lower medicaid/care rates

actually, in terms of substance, I think you could use the public option to choke private insurance off in the long-term but it's an odd policy goal in and of itself. strategically it makes a lot more sense to push for M4A and then settle.

yyaaaayyy dual healthcare system where we load up the public option with all the poors and those most in need while it doesn't get proper funding from the entire pool being in it and few doctors accepting it. Then it'll be easier to cut from and we can vilify it when it sucks.

Never mind that supporting a public option in the primary has been code for compromising with the other side to pass a right wing plan when president.

Even with context, it's a real stupid tone-deaf thing to say.
American healthcare sucks. Private insurance is a scam. It's awful for the poorest class, it's aggravating for the middle class, it's only good for ther upper class who can afford to spend whatever they want on their own health. Even for the middle class, it's easy to make a small mistake and end up tens of thousands of dollars in debt.
This is a statement made by someone who likes private healthcare.

Sanders supported the best that was getting passed and will still do so.

But I now see this isn't driven by a substantive critique of policy. You prefer a public option because progressives dunked you on the internet.

I haven't critiqued anything I just pointed out what the incredibly misleading quote in the OP actually meant. Pete doesn't support eliminating private insurance but does support a public option, which was good when progressives supported it I guess?

And you're not dunking on anyone dude, stop being so embarrassing. You're just part of a weird online echo chamber who thinks saying such a thing is a good enough substitute for winning elections.

it was considered good by progressives when the alternative was subsidizing private insurance

you'll notice that no one is proposing that any more

We know. You've just been vaguely whining about leftists.

Pete supports your right to figure out your own health care and what plan you choose to get. If you take that much offense to his catch phrase on healthcare, maybe you shouldn't support it. Oh right but you gotta own the libs tho.

Ten years is a long time. Obama's 2009 stances on LGBT issues were not without criticism at the time, but they'd be given a lot more pushback in a present day primary.

This reminds me of the time in the simpsons where they edited footage of him to make him sound worse.

Maybe they aren't editing any footage of buttigieg, but when you post a short sentence without its context (which totally changes it) you're basically doing the same thing
