I'm so happy to see close to universal condemnation of the actions in many FB firearm groups. A lot of them are typically bootlickers that back the blue over anything but this was so fucked up.

The only people I've seen defend them are on this site.

As some people suggest to let the robbers go on their way while still having the hostage. If they did that and the robbers killed the hostage then the police would have been blamed for not taking action. The robbers already showed a disregard for human life by shooting at the jewelry store owner and shooting an employee.

The video I saw shows the robbers using the driver as a human shield. The second civilian that died appeared to have been a far distance from the scene and struck by a stray bullet.

Would the civilian be guilty of a crime?

And if they stayed and someone in the vehicle got killed, would the officer(s) be guilty of a crime?

Typically, unless you pay a bit extra for accidental death/dismemberment as a part of your benefits with your employer, your employer isn't going to pay for your funeral unless they choose to do so out of kindness. Unless of course, your death/dismemberment can be directly tied to some fault of the company.

In this situation, an armed robbery taking place and the robbers choosing to hijack that particular vehicle isn't the fault of UPS.

It seems tough to judge. On one hand you don't want to put civilians at risk...but also you need to stop the perpetrators asap because they are killing people and taking them hostage and you dont want them doing more of that. How should somebody evaluate this situation and make the correct decision? I have no law enforcement experience so I can't judge.

Cops need to be held accountable for this. They're suppost to set an example and be held to a higher standard. Don't like it? Don't become a cop.
