I work overnights in cardiac monitoring at a hospital and it isn't a physically demanding job (we sit there and watch heart rhythms and report changes) but it is a very mentally demanding job. You have to do a lot of memorization and know what's real/what's fake. Especially on night shift when the hospital is less staffed.

I'm in the military, besides the required bi-annual PT tests I feel like I haven't really done much of anything the past four years.

Nothing in IT is physically demanding if that counts
Most office jobs as well

But the only jobs youre gonna be paid to sit around not doing much is either a night-shift or maybe some parking lot booth guy

Weather man
For every 5 minutes of TV presence during 5 oclock news, weather men do 5+ hours of computer analysis forecasting to get a better prediction than competitors. It is tiring mental labor for those few minutes of payoff to be in front of a camera. And thats assuming you are the lead meteorologist. The assistant meteorologists dont even get camera time. They just do the forecasting part.

I had a job riding a motorized floor scrubber in a warehouse for 6 months. I had to dump the tank and hose it down, but that's pretty much it. Easiest job ever. I would have stayed if I had any desire to live in that town.

Sure, but most of the ones you'd seriously want are locked up in nepotism.

The problem with my "not much work" job is that the trade off is the number of hours a night I have to spend on the phone with nurses, supervisors, doctors, etc... about what patients did at what time. I'm responsible for keeping track of all of that.

If you like it, it's not work.

I'm a teacher, what is generally considered one of the hardest jobs in America, but I never feel like I'm working because I love teaching and I love the kids. (I have high school seniors, but they're still kids to me, anyway.)
